#Aeolus war ein Forschungssatellit der ESA. Als er konzipiert wurde, war ein unterstützter Wiedereintritt in die Erdatmosphäre nicht vorgesehen. Die #ESA hat es trotzdem versucht und das mit Erfolg. Wie es dazu kam, was die ESA letztlich mit dem Satelliten gemacht hat und wie es geklappt hat, ist eine spannende Geschichte. Ich sprach am #ESOC der ESA mit Viet Duc Tran.

Nach Angaben der #ESA sind zwischenzeitlich die letzten Kommandos an #Aeolus geschickt worden.

🛰️ Peut-être la dernière observation du #satellite #Aeolus depuis un télescope terrestre alors qu'une rentrée atmosphérique contrôlée est effectuée en ce moment par le centre des opérations de l’ #ESA.
Jeudi il y a eu un allumage du moteur pendant 45 min qui va encore faire baisser l'orbite.
