One of my new favorite adoptee activities is occasionally taking a silly selfie and sending it to one or both of my known siblings. We don't live near each other so it's the closest I can get to sneaking up on them, scaring them and running away giggling... I'm the eldest & raised as an only child.

Question for fellow #adoptees in reunion with biological family:
If you're willing, could you talk to me a minute about how you went about opening up to or talking to your first family in the beginning? I've younger half-brothers I'm in the process of getting to know. I'm trying to find the happy medium between over-enthusiasm and a calm reticence.

I spent today and part of yesterday writing letters to some of my biological family members. I think these are both the most difficult letters I've ever written and the ones I'm most proud to have penned...
I've never met any genetic relative, to my knowledge. I've no medical history from either first parent... It's time.

I ordered an ancestry kit some time ago; tested myself as an adoptee. Got my results & later got DNAngels help to confirm some of those matches. Since then, beyond working on writing letters to bio family members, I've been a bit lost as to how to move forward in working with my tree, doing the appropriate research to confirm family members. If I had to choose a "goal" with this it would be to follow the trail of my ancestors to confirm for myself how we came to this country... Suggestions? Ideas? Best [easy] books for beginners to use as guides?

I would love to share more of my own #adopteestories on social media, but I've also had what I would consider to be a "mild" or even "positive" adoptee experience. There are very hurtful things which my APs have said or done. But from my perspective, in most of these cases, they've been just as much victims as myself. They did the best they knew with what resources they had, which were limited.
So I'm wondering what tips fellow #adoptees might have for sharing potentially triggering [to APs] content in the most kind, considerate way possible? I'd like to present truth from an adoptee perspective, while maintaining a respectful, kind & considerate tone towards my APs -- a tone which essentially says, "I don't blame you for xyz & appreciate your best efforts there, but I want other APs to be aware of how it sounds or looks from the adoptee's POV."
