GAAD is our kind of celebration – because accessibility isn’t extra, it’s essential.
Want to make your content more accessible? Start with alt text. Without it, images are invisible to blind and low vision users. With it, everyone gets to be part of the story. 🖼️🔤

I've been working on and off on a blog post on alt text for ages, and I've never actually posted it because I figured it's the same advice people have probably heard a million times.
But, even in 2023 I keep seeing the same mistakes being made, so I figured it can't do any harm to hit publish!
So, here is my take on alt text if it's useful: https://www.craigabbott.co.uk/blog/how-to-write-good-alt-text-for-screen-readers/

Proud to have lent me voice for the English Audio Description voiceover for the new #Nigerian drama that dropped on #Netflix this weekend, "Far From Home". It's only 5 episode so go ahead and binge it! #SupportBlackArt

If you know me, you know I'm a big proponent of getting people to use more hashtags. They are super important to the way content on Mastodon is indexed.
That said,
I wasn't aware that using tags inline in sentences ( like #this ) causes accessibility issues for those with screen readers.
The more we learn together, the better it will be for everyone.
