Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 11 update KB5124010, or a later update, can cause some apps to fail to open or close unexpectedly when they use Windows to process AC-3 (Dolby Digital) audio.
The issue affects Windows 11 versions 24H2, 25H2 and 26H2.
Older programs are more likely to be affected, but Microsoft has not named specific apps, and not all games or media players are expected to close.
