✨ A Little (About) Joy ✨
I loved #babywearing (the patterns, fabrics and the coziness of keeping my boys close)! That love for intricate designs and "warm-fuzzy" vibes is exactly what I pour into my art today!
What’s your favorite way to stay cozy?

Just heard about Jenny Yang's "Good Egg Immigrant Grocery Store Comedy Tour" & both tix for the show in Oakland on August 20th, which is almost sold out.
There's a show in Daly City on 8/14 which is largely unsubscribed & a show in SF on 8/22 (location/time TBD) before the show oddly head to Raleigh, NC before ending up in LA on 9/ There are a couple more shows in DC & SF to follow before the tour ends up on SoCal for a taping on 9/26.
Here's an AP article about Jenny & the tour:
Here's where you can buy tixs for the show:
And here's a clip of Jenny in action:
BTW, this tour is a NON-PROFIT event where most of the proceeds go to the local communities involved. 👏👏👏

My mom is a talented artist who paints & makes pottery! She has been my biggest influence, encouraging me to create as soon as I could hold a pencil. I credit my creative passion to her lifelong support!

Marrying a Singaporean meant 2 weddings (CA & #Singapore!) and a world of new inspiration! His culture has deeply influenced my eye for color and detail. This is my #Peranakan wedding look!
Has a partner or friend introduced you to a new culture?

During lockdown, we raised #butterflies and it was amazing! Seeing new life emerge brought beauty to a quiet time. It was a reminder that #nature sparks wonder even at home.
Have you ever raised a pet or plant that surprised you?

Now that is a movie that I'm looking forward to seeing . . . a biopic re: #AnnaMayWong played by #GemmaChan . . .
Probably won't hit the screens for a year or 2. Hope it's worth the wait.

Two babymoons at 32 weeks! For the first, we drove to #HearstCastle. For the second, we hit #Disneyland. It was so tiring, but I loved making those memories before life changed!
Did you take a trip or "babymoon" before a big life change?

#AAPI #Racism #Segregation #Education
"Nearly 70 years before Topeka’s Linda Brown and others challenged restrictive school laws on behalf of African Americans, sparking the legal battle that resulted in the landmark Supreme Court decision *Brown v. Board of Education*, 8-year-old Mamie Tape of San Francisco, and her persistent parents, did the same for Chinese American students."
https://www.history.com/articles/chinese-american-segregation-san-francisco-mamie-tape-case
This case involves the refusal to admit a Chinese girl to study at the all white (at the time) Spring Valley School in San Francisco in 1884 which led to the de jure creation of the so called "Oriental" (later named Commodore Stockton & then renamed Gordon Lau Elementary) School in Chinatown.
FWIW, I grew up only a block away & attended Spring Valley School1where in Kindergarten & the 1st Grade. Ironically, by that time, enrollment was almost 100% Chinese because it drew students primarily from Chinatown & Russian Hill (due to de-facto segregation) where many Chinese lived then & still do now.

A year after losing federal funding, Mississippi's only statewide advocacy group for Asian American and Pacific Islander communities is still navigating an uncertain future.

✨ A Little (About) Joy ✨
I come from a long line of artists including my grandma, aunt and mom. This is me painting at my aunt's house! Growing up surrounded by creativity, it was inevitable that I would return to my roots.
Does your family share a passion or a trade?

May 17th has been named #BruceLee Day in California. 😉
Bruce was born in SF on 11/27/1940 while his parents were on tour as Chinese opera performers but was raised in Hong Kong until his parents reportedly arranged for him to move back to CA to live with his sister on 05/17/1959 in order to avoid legal difficulties in Hong Kong.
Bruce later moved to Seattle & is buried in a cemetery there next to his son, Bandon, who also died tragically young, that I've visited in the past.
