Day 23 of #31daysofwinterbiking was a "when it rains, it pours." After being told my phone was a goner, I discovered a flat tire. But the bus got me to class on time, and it gave me an opportunity to visit Venture Cycles on the Greenway!

Being able to layer down (compared to the last week-and-a-half) on day 22 of #31daysofwinterbiking makes me feel so light and free! Pretty zippy commute this morning, for a winter ride.

I fueled Day 21 of #31daysofwinterbiking with some chicken fried rice at Lotus and the biggest walleye sandwich I've ever seen at Elsie's!
It's getting warm again. -
On day 19 #31daysofwinterbiking I went to the BikeMN 15 year celebration! It was great to hang out with @robliebhart and Stephanie, and we won 1-2-3 in the trivia competition!

I swapped back to my slick tires on day 18 #31daysofwinterbiking; it's cold, but it's pretty much bare pavement everywhere. Also, got a new spoke card from the Minnesota Randonneurs!

I'm taking the touring bike in to the shop for its annual tune up on day 17 of #31daysofwinterbiking . It's been a fun day of bike+bus trips! I get to take the 363, an express route on a coach bus. Smells like a hospital in here. #busride

On day 16 #31daysofwinterbiking I shared the bike lane with another commuter for a few blocks! It was nice chatting with someone, though the effort of talking through the balaclava heated me up more than planned.

Day 15 #31daysofwinterbiking I rode to/from the 94 to visit my parents and tie together the blankets they got @stinabikes and I for Christmas!
Bonus: on the way home, ran into some friends on their way home from the Science Museum! #busride -
Day 14 #31daysofwinterbiking was the first sub-zero ride of the season! And I'm getting fed up with my sunglasses frosting up in the cold, so I have finally gotten some ski goggles. Interchangeable lenses, so hopefully I can use them at night as well as day.

Day 12 is when #31daysofwinterbiking is actually starting to feel like winter! 6°F, first time we've been in single digits this season. I'm recalibrating how many layers feel good at this temp; I overdressed and overheated. This afternoon I'll leave off the down shell and see how that feels. I think this is the year I get some ski goggles, my glasses frost up way too much.
I did ride days 10 and 11, but I forgot to post about them.

On day 8 #31daysofwinterbiking I intentionally took a risk and kept the slicks on despite the midday snow. And it paid off, I had fine traction this afternoon!
I love being able to run errands downtown on my way home. -
Day 7 #31daysofwinterbiking was a ride home from Stina's place. I keep wanting to visit Venture Bikes on the Greenway, but they're never open at the times of day I pass by.
The dusting we got last night had me taking it careful, but since we haven't gotten up to melting point, it isn't slippery. We'll see what tomorrow's snow brings. -
Day 6 #31daysofwinterbiking was a quick jaunt to @mplsFietser 's birthday brunch! Pavement was nice and clear this afternoon, but we've gotten a dusting this evening and I wonder how slick it will be tomorrow.

OMG I've been forgetting to post my #31daysofwinterbiking! Here's what I've done so far:
Day 1 went on a fun group ride organized by my friend Dante!
Day 2 commuted on my construction-free ideal route!
Day 3 swung by Stina's place before going home.
Day 4 back on slicks, went all the way to the East Side of Saint Paul (bike+train) to run some errands, visit my parents, and go to a Sustain Saint Paul event about reducing salt use for ice management! -
#31DaysOfWinterBiking day 29: didn’t have enough energy at the end of a long day to even do a ride around the block 🥱. No one warned me about the perils of the weekend youth hockey tournament.
