@graves501 Those servers are mission critical as core-business infrastructure, and hosting mixed web-services/pages for clients (VMs).
Sure, I could reboot /if/ I wanted to (I'm the owner, operator, main-user and admin), but I simply like the fact that 10-years-stable systems are possible with #FOSS.
And also prove, that security-patches DO NOT CHANGE features. 🔑 🌟
I want #stable, #consistent, #reliable #tech.
And I want to know how to setup and provide that.Given my uptimes: I do.

@graves501 The projects previously used #gulp, #sass and #webpack.
I chose #npm because I am the only maintainer and really just wanted something super basic.
I am not up to speed, but I regularly run audits and try to fix issues. 🫣 I should read up on it, I guess. 🤔 -
@graves501 Thank you for the suggestion! Will have a look! I used #resolve for a while and then tried #pitivi which is very limited in comparison. I must say that #olive looks promising too. Not sure what toolkit it uses.

@graves501 I know! 🫣️ I was just totally hypnotized with the Gigaset back then. Reasonably priced, more or less #green and #fair, with #dualsim, #replaceable #battery and even a #headphonejack. It just ticked all my boxes back then. And I think I plain forgot to think about the operating system for a moment and now "I have the salad". 😜️ But, ไม่เป็นไร (it's ok). 🤓️ My next phone will have to be a #linuxphone though. I'll just hold out till then, I guess. 😝️

@graves501 Oh yes, do that! A #phone can already be quite useful (if the task at hand is relatively low key), a #laptop even more so and a #desktop is IMHO still unrivaled. 🤓
But I have to admit that my #computerless time had its upsides too. 😇 I've certainly been able to enjoy it in many ways, as painful as it has been at times. 😅
Still, the bottom line is that I would rather do without my phone and laptop than without my PC. 😉 -

My computer has been at Lenovo Thailand for over 40 days and the #repair status has just gone back to on hold and they can't tell me anything over the phone other than that they expect to update me on what's going on in January. 🙏

@sashin @graves501 @thejessiekirk All of the degoogled Android projects are riding on Google funded development and cannot survive without it. The only real alternative is #LinuxMobile. Now we have a decent-spec usable device for non-technical users, the #FLX1s from @furilabs at a pretty good price (currently $499).
For tech-savvy users, true Linux devices like the #LibertyPhone or #Librem5 with #PureOS, #Mobian or #postmarketOS (or flashed on a supported Android phone) can also work as a daily driver and replace Android for nearly all important stuff.

Things I will buy #secondhand so far:
* Phones (in my case #Pixel phones for #GrapheneOS)
* Laptops (I really don't need the latest hardware, especially when running Linux)
* Bikes (got my folding bike used)Due to inflation etc. people will resort to buy secondhand more and more to not feel like they're getting ripped off. Even vintage/secondhand clothing stores in #Vienna feel like a rip-off, so I've got mixed feelings about that.

To me it's always baffling when I see people out in the wild not typewriting (10 fingers) properly.
Only using 2-4 fingers for typing, staring at the keyboard.You're slow, your posture is really bad and it prevents you from clearly communicating as longer sentences/phrases are painful.
Developers that don't touch type tend to not document/document less etc.
Sure, AI tooling will generate code for you, but you still need to type the prompt yourself. 😅

Saw Jim Jefferies perform for the third time over the years. Absolutely splendid and still funny as hell!
Can't say the same about Ricky Gervais, saw him perform earlier this year. Was a bit of a letdown sadly!
Hopefully I get to see Bill Burr someday as well 😁
