Just thinking how what is considered beautiful changes with what's accessible to the wealthy.
Pale skin was the rage when workers had to be outside. But once workers were confined to mines, factories, and offices and only the wealthy could be leisurely outside, tanning came in vogue.
"Fat" bodies that had rolls were the epitome of beauty while food was scarce and hard to have an overabundance of. Now that food is plentiful, having the "right" (read: expensive) foods and Botox and hours to exercise fat away and chefs to provide you on-calorie meals is beautiful.
Anyway. Be you.

Life's too short for Russian poetry.
You can look through the visitors book but you can't take it with you.

I saw an ad for a mobile game that said "play for free" and immediately thought "That's too expensive. If I'm playing *that* they need to pay me a lot more."

Why do so many people (I too) think that using apostrophes in the names of fictional characters makes them sound whimsical or exotic?
Star Trek: Lower Decks even had a joke about that in one episode.
-
If you gift a game to a former lover, is that a "for ex" game? 🤪
-
I wonder how dill pickles first came to be. Did someone just say these cucumbers are good, but what if we aged them in vinegar with dill, salt, and maybe some other seasonings? That's seems like such a random thing to come up with.

It's interesting to me that our latest nuclear reactors/weapons use rare, super heavy elements but stars do it with just hydrogen and helium.

English language logic is completely wild if you think about it too much. 🤨📝
If beautiful means "full of beauty," then why does handsome mean "some of hand"? 🤷♂️💀
Does that mean I’m only partially attractive, or do I just have a really nice handshake? The math isn't mathing here! 😂

If "exposure" is so valuable, then why don't influencers want to be paid in "exposure"?

I don't get why people call MMORPGs "MMO" instead of "RPG".
Telling people it's a role playing game is massively more important than telling people it's online.
Also, RPG sort of has multiplayer built in already if you think about it. Role playing alone doesn't make much sense.
This really feels like dropping the important part and keeping everything else to me.

Things I look up for no reason other than the obvious… the evolutionary history of mastodons, mammoths, and elephants.

If cars could fly, would they be more likely or less likely to be hit by satellite debris raining down? 🤔
-
Do people with the surname "Singer" all have some ancestor at some point in history who sang?
-
When you wake up again, is that dozing on?

I wonder how far away we are from having novels published containing casual use of emojis in the main narration and character dialogues.

Why are young house cats called "kittens" while most other cat species' young are called "cubs"? (lions, panthers, cougars, etc.)

Irrespective of whoever is in power at #westminster whether, #Labour... #Reform... #Tory... or #LibDems...
they will not look at re-joining the EU. or work for the benefit of the people of #Scotland, #Wales or #NorthenIreland...

#AI = ArtyFashal IncelliGen
Quite proud of that brain goblin effusion.
(Shush little goblin, silence thy peep, it's Too Late O'clock, we piss off to sleep..)

Dear Marvel, what possible mutant X gene could possibly make you able to deal cards really fast, so fast it's lethal? What even is that? His backstory should be him getting fired from dealing at a Vegas casino.
"We're gonna have to let you go. That's the fifteenth blackjack player that died since this morning. The police are starting to ask questions."

I wonder why little lined cards are called "index cards". Doesn't that depend on what you use them for?
If you use them to record reminders, they're reminder cards.
If you use them for your grocery list, they're list cards.
If you use them to flick at your office mate, they're weapons. 🤪

The irony is never lost, only forgotten.

For some reason, I was just thinking about the fact that we had to play an entire season in Little League with our team name misspelled on our jerseys—"Panhters" instead of "Panthers".
I wonder how many adults missed that one before it got printed on a couple dozen jerseys.

"isolated thunder storms"
Isolated in what? Time or space? And what is "isolated" anyway? A single city? A single planet? Because then every storm would be isolated. Even if we're talking about time, everything is isolated in time unless it's eternal.

I'm really happy it's raining almost all day for a week now. It's what our environment needs. But, I hate that, when I use public transportation, I need to strip to a polo/shirt, because the humidity is so unbearable... 😶🌫️🧖☔
Please turn on the A/C!

Happy people spend less money.
That's why.

Took my first photo of a ghost today with an infrared adapter!
Walked around the house pointing at walls, ceilings, objects. Entering the bathroom, there it was, a few in front of me, between me and the tiled wall.
Still reading?
Okay, that was simply my body's infrared radiation reflected by the much cooler tiles. No different from seeing yourself in a mirror, really.

I spend an inordinate amount of time trying to emulate the goofy sounds and expressions that cartoon characters make. 🤔

Humans will humanize anything.
Rivers, mountains, the sun, the sea, the universe, our pets, and now software.

I was wondering if the etymology sites I frequent are only for English or if they cover etymology of terms from other languages as well. Or do other languages have their own etymology sites that are separate?
-
What if there just are a whole lot more of them than there are of us?

It seems like"fuck" takes on a whole different feeling and meaning if you drag out the syllable.
Like "fuuuuuuck".

I donated my high level account for a game I was quitting to a gamer friend and I got irrationally overexcited to see how happy it made them. Is that a weird or exaggerated feeling for me to have? 😆
