Oh yeah, but the most important thing is that I'm With Her has a new live album coming out, next Friday.
I'm relistening to their "Wild and Clear and Blue" album from last year -- great album. A true supergroup.

There is a long tradition of folk-ish, acoustic acts doing big pop songs in their own style.
How did I miss this contribution to the category, from last year?
I'm With Her performing Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso":

And it's quite good.

You're the kind who looks at a painting
and wonders what's happening beyondthe stretched canvas, where it wraps
around the wood frame, as if
it were a detail from a larger workor, like a photograph, one small scene
inside a wider one, curated by the eye.You wonder what's beyond
the bowl of fruit, beyond the gray sea
with its meal of wrecked ships, beyond the mother holding her burning,
red-cheeked child. You're the kindwho thinks there must be more
than this, more than what you see.
The kitchen might be filling with bees, drawn buzzing to the bowl of red
and yellow apples. And the waves, the waves might be ruffling white
and folding over on themselves--
breaking, breaking like a fever.---
-- Maggie Smith, "Detail" from her new volume, *A Suit or a Suitcase* -
"The rain continued. It was a hard rain, a perpetual rain, a sweating and steaming rain; it was a mizzle, a downpour, a fountain, a whipping at the eyes, an undertow at the ankles; it was a rain to drown all rains and the memory of rains. It came by the pound and the ton, it hacked at the jungle and cut the trees like scissors and shaved the grass and tunneled the soil and molted the bushes. It shrank men's hands into the hands of wrinkled apes; it rained a solid glassy rain, and it never stopped."

What a great opening!

I know we're wary of NYT links, but sharing this gift link for an excellent op-ed on birthright citizenship and the 14th amendment, from historians Martha Jones and Kate Masur.
Will be using this in my US History I class in a few weeks, for sure, when we cover #Reconstruction.
"Trump Says Birthright Citizenship Was for the Children of Slaves. He’s Wrong."

Yesterday was a tough day, today is going to be a long day.
But last night I learned that Harriet Tubman, the experimental rock-ish trio featuring Melvin Gibbs, Brandon Ross, JT Lewis, has a new album out on Friday with none other than
GEORGIA ANNE MULDROW
hallelujah and amen, that's what's up.

Rewatching #Vincenzo.
Very good on 2nd watch. There was a lot that I didn't remember, and the slightly wacky humor is just as funny as the first time.
"I hate wasting time as much as i hate...
Overcooked pasta."
