I'm a music lover, not a music snob, but my alter-ego Mr. Hipster is. And he chooses sides. Team Mr. Bungle all the way!

#Listening to Psykup's 2008 album We Love You All;
https://seasonofmistcatalogue.bandcamp.com/album/we-love-you-all
This has vague undertones of Slipknot, Mr Bungle and System of a Down, and given the release date, they're probably all influences on this band's approach to music. But Psykup do their own thing, and these 6 tracks are well worth a listen.

The new Dave Lombardo album, Rites of Percussion (#IpecacRecords), is pretty great. It’s 100% what he was going for; very much like an old school jazz drummer record that sounds like it could as easily have been a giallo soundtrack. If you’ve heard his collaborations with John Zorn it’s way more in that vein.
I know his leaving Slayer bummed a lot of people out (although you can still get that side of him with Mr Bungle currently) but personally I look forward to hearing a lot more of this.
