"What happened next was not publicly explained. After [initial sales to ordinary investors], the project sold an additional 5.9 billion tokens to accredited private investors, transactions worth hundreds of millions of dollars, with much of the proceeds directed to founder-affiliated entities."
"World Liberty declined to say who received the money from the additional sales."

@vathpela @joshbressers In the spirit of being constructive:
I've looked at Rust a bit. I've coded professionally in both C and C++, and I can see a bit of why C and C++ people might not like Rust.
If someone can add memory safety to C in a way that otherwise is extremely minimal in how the new code looks, great. I'm not an expert in developing programming languages, but I can see how that might be challenging given a few C things like the language is not type strict.

I've been taking the next round of mandatory annual training at work and... good news, I'm only a few years away from qualifying for elder abuse. So, I've got that to look forward to. Hopefully it will keep me warm when Skynet cuts off my paycheck.

When a caller says they have info but first demand proof of identity, that's completely backwards.
The caller dialed the number the person provided, so high chance the call connected to the correct recipient, but recipient has absolutely zero knowledge of caller's identity. It's the caller's identity that needs to be established & proven.
Establishing the routine where call recipients provide PII to confirm identity is a fraudster's dream.

About 20 years ago, I made a quip to a pollster that I'd vote for a wet, dripping, paper sack full of dog feces before I'd vote for Candidate X.
At some later point, I became aware of the David Sedaris quote that sums up the same sentiment.
Some candidates are so dangerous that voting for their opponent should be the easy choice, not just as a lessor of evils, but a joyful repudiation of repugnancy.

It's been said that most people's taste in music gels by the time they are 25, and they stop liking new music.
Mmm.
I did not discover LCD Soundsystem until my 40s.
Don't stop liking new music.

Overheard at the office: "I'm overwhelmed. They want ETA to completion to share with stakeholders on my next project, when I haven't even started it, and my current project has taken longer than expected. Meanwhile I'm being asked to sign off on something that I don't' think was done correctly. Retirement is looking good."

The #Dominos Pizza website and app are not working in the USA right now. Downdetector website shows the outage started about 2 hours ago. I’ve been trying the last hour with no luck. I’m guessing their current online-only sale is at least partially to blame.

@HamonWry A lot of folks will naysay me for saying this, but I have tremendous respect for Liz Cheney. She effectively ended her own political career to stand up to Turnip. Unfortunately there aren’t enough principled Republicans that joined her.

KCCI just said the last remaining tornado warning from NWS has been cancelled.
I have confirmed that there are no warnings on the NWS page. Looks like the most severe weather is over for the evening.
KCCI 8-2 just ended their weather coverage and reverted to regularly scheduled programming (Golden Girls).

KCCI is saying in a guarded way that the storm they are tracking at the moment has mostly “overrun” the only open tornado warning area, but it remains open until 10 pm. KCCI is saying the rotation has reduced. They are hinting they think the NWS may cancel the warning, but it remains open.

Updated map at 9:20 pm.
-
KCCI is saying the overall storm strengths are declining. They are still monitoring, but it sounds like the danger levels overall are greatly decreased. The strongest rotation they are monitoring is approaching Chariton, Iowa.
