After procrastinating for way too long, I have finally set up regular backups of my laptop and achieved the 3-2-1 strategy 🙌
But the reason I was procrastinating this is because I couldn't decide on a good #restic wrapper! And, to this day, none of the options appeal to me
- #Backrest can't do stdin, --keep-within-*, and passwords from command
- #autorestic can't do stdin, and scheduled check/forget
- #resticprofile is too complicated and has a different mental model -

It's a wrap! What an incredible experience has this year's @europython been! So many interesting talks and so many opportunities to network and socialize. (being shy, I didn't utilise this to 100% 😅)
This has been by far the best conference I've been on, and I'm looking forward to the next year's one. A huge thanks to the organisers and the volunteers who made all of this possible! Děkujeme a na shledanou!

Alright, what’s the deal with every YouTuber doing ad reads for data deletion services? Seemingly everyone got a deal with either #DeleteMe or Aura. I find the idea of such services good, but I’ve never used one nor even investigated them. The amount of creators they sponsor makes them seem *very* suspicious; it’s like VPN and Raycon and Raid Shadow Legends all over again 🤨 Does anyone know what’s up with that?

#Westfalenbahn tip: the last carriage is usually the best one.
— It's a bit further away, so less people are in it
— It's a normal carriage, that is, it has no bikes and no 1st class
— It gets checked first, so you can show your ticket in the first minutes of your journey and relaxFollow me for more #Pendeln life hacks /j

I want to add a ‘Share via email’ button to #Shareon, the share buttons I develop. What should the icon for that button be?
-
#Shareon v2.2.0 is out! This version added a share button for Microsoft Teams, as well as an overall “Share” button that uses Web Share API under the hood. Also, there now is the `data-hashtags` attribute that lets you set a hashtag for Twitter or Facebook.
Huge thanks to Edward and Dimitrios, who made these changes happen!

1st June was a big day! #Shareon got its 400th GitHub star and reached 20 MILLION monthly hits on jsDelivr. If you're in need for lightweight and privacy-friendly #ShareButtons for your project or blog, look no further
Oh, and I also handed in my Bachelor's thesis yesterday :D

#Shareon got an update!
New feature: ‘Copy URL’ button. It does exactly what it says it does :) Perfect for unsupported platforms!

Lots of changes since this post!
I styled the page to my liking, and it looks way better than what I’ve started with! :D I have also started to ‘rescue’ my posts I had published on #Medium some time ago: Luckily, they allow setting canonical links, so I hope my posts will show up in the search results with links leading to my blog.
Next on my to-do list: subset the fonts so I don't get disqualified from #512KBClub :blobcatcool:

I'm contemplating whether to purchase a simple #NAS for home. Mostly for photo storage and backups.
I can get my hands on either #WD #MyCloud Home or WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra with quite a big discount. Does anyone have experience with those and could recommend (or advise against) any of those two?
I like how slim and cheap the Home is, but I don't like it having only one hard drive with no RAID possible. But the Ultra is twice the price 🙈

Anyone who has ever contributed to @kev's #512KBClub, have you also just received an email in Chinese telling that the repo “doesn't have any security risks” or am I the only one?

TIL: reorder-python-imports by @[email protected]
This import sorter for #Python is much faster than #isort, can globally add, remove, and rename imported modules, all while having no config to worry about! pre-commit support is there, too!
https://pypi.org/project/reorder-python-imports/
Definitely using this on all my projects from now on.
