Lots of "firsts" this week for me:

1. Completed pull requests on 3 projects & got them all merged! Esp proud of the #retext #markdown editor syntax highlighting fix.

2. Joined a web-ring (if you could call it that?) community—#512kbclub by @kev!

In the end I got it down to 499kB. MonaspaceVar font taking up a good 100kB+ chunk of the uncompressed total. I need to find a spot to put the club badge! Excited :)

3. Bought an official #nanoblock #ultraman 200pc (only had knockoffs before).

Found the 512kb.club , and absolutely immediately wanted to add my site to it!

After scanning my home page, its total size was ~122kb - just 22kb short of the shiny "Green team" treshold!

"The 'heaviest' part of my index page are the couple of images!", I thought.

"I'll just refactor the Eleventy Image parameters I use and I'll probably get that down!"...

And so I did...

And it's now ~266kb.. 😂

So it's the illustrious Blue Team for me until I read up on Eleventy Image and Sharp to actually understand what the hell I'm doing with those parameters! 😄

@paninodesu Agreed. Maybe this new Vivaldi feature will make it easier to name and shame offenders. Still, even small sites take up too much. I'm on the Green Team on Kev's #512KBClub and the tab still takes almost 40MB of RAM. Why 40MB for a page that's less than 100K?

Estoy viendo como incluir mi página en el #512kbclub , pero hay un paso que implica editar un fichero en GitHub con petición de incluir la web y no soy programadora así que no sé cómo funciona esa plataforma :ABlobCatGooglyParty: .

Así que simplemente mejoraré la web con las indicaciones que marca https://gtmetrix.com/ (que es un paso previo que se exige superar) como que no use un fichero .css para el código css porque cargarlo vía script hace que la web sea más lenta (o algo así, se me escapa tecnicismos).

Así que meteré el .css en el header y veré si los resultados mejoran (misión: más rápida que un babuino encocado).

Lástima que no pueda presumir de web en el directorio del club, pero qué demonios, me monto mi propio club, con casinos y furcias. Es más, paso de los casinos.

Estoy por poner en el bottom de la web información sobre la optimización de la web y estadísticas de GTMetrix.

This past month I have been wondering if I chose the right #CMS (#WordPress). I'm getting more and more intrigued by the likes of static site generators like #Hugo or #Jekyll + #GithubPages. And then I discovered #512KBclub and #1MBclub which highlights the unnecessary bloat on many websites. My blog is currently at 809Kb (uncompressed)...

Using WordPress is not as smooth as I like; I often don't feel like writing due to the clunkiness of the interface.

I styled the page to my liking, and it looks way better than what I’ve started with! :D I have also started to ‘rescue’ my posts I had published on #Medium some time ago: Luckily, they allow setting canonical links, so I hope my posts will show up in the search results with links leading to my blog.

Next on my to-do list: subset the fonts so I don't get disqualified from #512KBClub :blobcatcool:
