Alrighty. First finished game of the year: #DarksideDetective 2 - A Fumble in the Dark. To be fair, only the last 3 bonus cases were missing. 😅
I thoroughly enjoyed bonus cases 1 and 2. 3 a bit less, because it has a weird structure and the humor is slightly...off.
Nevertheless, overall it's a game I can wholeheartedly recommend. 🙂

I did it! I solved the first bonus case of #DarksideDetective - A Fumble in the Dark. 🙂
As I suspected, I was missing a single thing and after a but of walking through all the screens, the missing piece pretty much jumped out at me.
Overall I think the case was actually well put together. Even though there's some non-linearity to it, it will tell you once you're done with a location. 👍
I've made some headway in the second bonus case es well, but now's bedtime. 😅

After listening to a podcast, I remembered that I haven't beaten the bonus cases of #DarksideDetective 2 - A fumble in the dark yet.
So that's what I was playing today for an hour or so. It got a few good laughs out of me. But there are also recurring characters that I can't remember, because it's been forever since I played this last. 😅
I'm also stuck right now without any clear idea of what I need to do. I'll let this sit for a while and come back tomorrow. 🙂

This #VGMWednesday theme is #DiegeticMusic and the first thing I could think of was the shopkeeper in Crypt of the Necrodancer.
The first time I noticed this, I nearly fell of the chair. This is such an amazing detail and really helpful when you're playing the game.

I felt in the mood to f*** shit up, so I got back into #ElPasoElsewhere. The last time I played 14 chapters in a row and grew a bit tired of the gameplay. Now I only played for about 25 minutes and 5 chapters and I crave more. 😅
Maybe I should play it in smaller chunks. It's a game well suited for that. It also helped that the 5 chapters I played today had some really interesting level design ideas.
Now for some late dinner and then some Great Ace Attorney. 😁

While I was waiting for my Windows partition to die a slow and painful death (😅) I also decided to start #TheGreatAceAttorney 2: Resolve.
It was a perfect distraction and I'm very excited that it picks up one of the loose threads from the first game immediately in the very first court case. Looking forward to where this is going. 🙂

I finally finished the final trial of #TheGreatAceAttorneyAdventures ... but not the game. 😅
I'm stuck in the epilogue, but that's okay. The rest can wait until tomorrow. The thrilling part is done and I'm very happy how things turned out.
Maybe while I sleep on it (and wait for my kids to wake me at 5 😬), I should make up my mind if I want to continue with the sequel straight away or play something else for a while. 🤔

Still grinding away at the final trial of #TheGreatAceAttorneyAdventures . Narratively it took an unexpected turn, because I missed the implication of what dragging out the truth would mean for the defendant. 😨
I'm also very much looking forward to see if there's any redeeming factors for the prosecutor Lord van Zieks. So far he's a racist asshole, but prosecutors in the original trilogy usually had some last minute redemption arc that explained their behavior and character.

Wow. The buildup to the final case of #TheGreatAceAttorneyAdventures is veeery long (and a bit boring and tedious to read through), but the trial in court is really intense. 😬
I have a vague idea of what's going on, but I'm still on the edge of my seat for what's coming. However, it'll have to wait until tomorrow evening. Now for a (hopefully) good nights sleep. 🙂

I finished the 4th case of #TheGreatAceAttorneyChronicles just now and had tons of fun figuring this one out. To me this was a very creative mystery to unravel.
I'm looking forward to the next case, although I'll take some time off first to watch The Fall of the House of Usher. 🙂

This evening I finished out the third case of #TheGreatAceAttorneyChronicles . It was only a formality, as all the hard questions had already been answered yesterday. The trial slid down a surprising victory slope with a surprising twist to it.
I'm digging how this game plays with my expectations. I missed a whole bunch of Ace Attorney games, so it might not be the first to do so, but I'm nevertheless enjoying it very much.

I played a bit more of #TheGreatAceAttorneyChronicles this evening. Actually, I had to resort to a walkthrough, because the game repeats something which I've always hated in Ace Attorney games:
press every witness statement in a testimony,
listen to the banter with your assistant,
press *a specific witness testimony again* to continue.
I always forget that's a thing. 😩
But then the story took an unexpected turn and I'm back on board. 😅
I suspect that not all is as it seems.

I played some more #TheGreatAceAttorneyChronicles and moved on to the third case. Again, the game presents new "mechanics", which I find really refreshing. The Ace Attorney trilogy (the only other thing I've played in the series) does introduce some new mechanics, but I think that was per-game and not like this.
The more I play, the more I'm impressed with how different, yet familiar Great Ace Attorney feels.
I'm excited to see what's next. It's not looking too good right now. 😅

I'm progressing through the second case of #TheGreatAceAttorneyChronicles . Surprisingly, it feels much quicker than the first case. Looking at the play clock though, I don't even think that's correct. It just flows better and, at least IMO, it's a better mystery than the opening case.
From the looks of it, I must be close to unravelling the whole mystery. I finally managed to put the game down after about an hour or so and I can hardly wait for the conclusion. 🤩
Now...sleep. 😅

I've soldiered on into the second adventure of #TheGreatAceAttorneyChronicles . And I'm happy to report that the second case has gotten it's hooks into me much quicker.
Even though I feel like I've already solved a large part of the mystery (in my head, not in-game), I'm still not annoyed with the game, as I was during the first case. 😅
It definitely helped to double-team a deduction with a certain world famous detective. 😅

Hi #FediEltern und #Toniebox Besitzer.
Hat sonst schon jemand beobachtet, dass die Toniebox bei einer bestimmten Abfolge von Schritten "hängt"?
Egal ob ein #Tonie aufgestellt oder heruntergenommen wird, passiert nichts.
Den Offlinemodus kann man einstellen, aber die Toniebox ist spielt erst wieder Sachen ab, wenn sie selbstständig in den Standby Modus wechselt. Das passiert erst nach mehreren Minuten.
Ich frage mich ob es da einen besseren Trick gibt, weil unsere Kids das ziemlich raus haben. 😅 -
I was in the mood for something slower today, so I started #TheGreatAceAttorneyChronicles and it is...slow.
I forgot how much the constant "Objection"s of the prosecution bring the whole momentum to a screeching halt. Whenever there's a new development and the cogs in my brain start turning to try and fit it with everything else...I'm bombarded with Objections and then everybody has to state again how pointless the new evidence is. 😩
3h and I'm still on the opening case. 🤯

After I read the review of #ElPasoElsewhere on #RockPaperShotgun, I had to play it.
This game is totally up my alley and I've been having a blast playing it. It's a Max Payne 1 revival, filled with slow-mos and diving and a unique blocky 90s graphic style.
Honestly, 14 chapters in, the action starts getting a bit stale, but the levels are gorgeous and trippy and the narration keeps me going. However, 50 chapters sounds kinda long, even if they keep their average of 8 minutes. 😅

So...when I finish RE4Make (again), I want to play #GhostTrick #PhantomDetective (again).
I've played the original game twice on the DS, but my eyes are on the remastered version that released recently.
Any opinions on if I should rather get it on PC or Switch?
I can imagine that the PC version comes with a higher resolution, but the Switch is portable and I can imagine replaying the game a few more times. Anything else I should consider? -
This was an interesting read, even though I'm usually not interested in the business side of tech things.
A nice post mortem on why this idea failed, even though the individual parts are amazing.
I myself stumbled upon Earthly and am still very in love with what it does. So far I haven't replaced any of my build systems with it, mainly because I'm afraid of driving potential contributors away, if I force them to install a tool they have never heard of.
