  1. The #TfE (#LothianBuses and #EdinburghTrams) #TransportTracker app seems to be having an off moment just now (probably in absolutely no way affected by the #EdinburghFestivals crowds starting to arrive 🤔), so just a reminder that the old #Edinburgh #BusTracker website still exists (and still seems to be working, assuming that it does have accurate data from the “new” system?).

  3. “Most people in France, Germany, Italy and Spain would support UK rejoining EU, poll finds”

And also: “The survey also found that large majorities in all five continental countries (63-75%) would support an independent Scotland joining the EU.”

  6. @jon On the other hand, if your train from České Budějovice is delayed, at least you can get some •proper• real #PGI Budweiser lager to drown your sorrows… 🍺

  7. The #midpoint of the year is today, the 2nd of July.

It will be 182 ½ days since the start of the year at solar midday, with the same time remaining until the end of the year.

Because the UK is currently on #BST (British Summer Time, GMT+01), the solar midday #halfway time in #Edinburgh will actually be when the #OneOClockGun fires at 13:00 BST.

(Yes, yes, the rotation and orbit of the earth and the existence of Leap Years make things slightly more complicated than this…)

  12. I didn’t know #TheEdge from #U2 wasn’t actually #Irish, but he is now. He must have finally got really fed up with the harsh loss of #FreedomOfMovement caused by the foolish and misled Bwrecksiters 😡

And an extra nice touch by #Ireland to hold mass citizenship ceremonies on #BrexitStillBreaksBritain day to remind us who are (sadly) the butt of the jokes now! 😢

  15. A great pro-EEC quote from “The Sun”(!) in 1975 (when UK voted to #Remain), superimposed on the commemorative EEC 50p, which was true in 1973, 1975, certainly 2016, and of course still now:

“When the world says Britain hasn't a snowball in hell's chance of going it alone, is that the time to say NO?”

  20. The #Filmhouse foyer lights are on, the curtains are now drawn back, the doors are not (yet) open, but hopefully it won’t be too long now until this much-missed #cinema reopens and the familiar sounds of the #PearlAndDean theme (and the #EuropaCinemas theme? 🇪🇺) will be heard again soon! #FilmhouseCinema #Edinburgh 📽️🥰

  21. Knowing that #IrnBru advertising is often a bit risqué, I’m half wondering whether there is also a “Cream of Haggis” special edition, but if there is, I might just give that one a miss (you know what I mean)… 😳

  22. Another day, another brunch, another #IrnBru “legend edition”. Today it’s the #unicorn, the national animal of #Scotland, and #UnicornTears flavour (some kind of berry flavour, possibly raspberry). Hopefully no unicorns were harmed or exploited in its production? #Slurm

  23. Buses and #EdinburghTrams are currently being heavily delayed on #PrincesSt #Edinburgh due to roadworks (poor signal phasing) at East End / North Bridge junction. #LothianBuses

  24. At the risk of doing unpaid marketing for them, interesting to see that #IrnBru (a fizzy drink from #Scotland, one of very few countries in the world where a local drink outsells Big Cola) currently has a #NessieNectar flavour (vaguely fruity, less iron-y/ferric than normal). Hopefully no loch monsters were harmed or used in its production? #Slurm

  25. @nixCraft There’s also a further “kernel” related reference in that the Colonel-in-Chief of the Norwegian King's Guard is Major General Sir Nils Olav, Baron of the Bouvet Islands, who is a king #penguin who lives at #EdinburghZoo 🐧🫡🙂

  26. @drnoble Yes, many people, including myself, have suggested that the #EdinburghSouthSub has good #TramTrain potential, but there seems to be a fixation that people want to go to the city centre, even though it would be a very useful orbital link between many significant trip destinations.
