#BobSeger turned 81 today. Wow, do I feel old!
Because my mother had a serious crush on him, I have seen him in concert A LOT when I was a kid. 🙄
I used to travel, every week, to multiple cities for work. This song was always an ear worm as soon as I boarded the plane every Monday (I changed the musician/star lyrics to match my tech job).
Truly, this is pretty much what it felt like being on the road every week.

@RHH Along the #NewRiver in #SouthwesternVirginia I've noticed colleges, public broadcasting and other media outlets are still invested in the "other three" big social media outlets, and may have been taken by surprise by the November migration, an awkward time in a semester. Any computer student interest in Mastodon servers yet in #WestVirginia? Student organizations, political or journalistic, might pick up the thread from there. I assume servers are in more urban #ArtsAndTechnology zones.

I ran two of the earliest #fidonet sites, one at #ByteMagazine and another personal one in my basement. #johnmarkoff and I discovered #tomjennings as he was first hatching the idea of #fido in the early 80s. I was West Coast Bureau Chief for Byte, and John (who had just migrated over from InfoWorld) theoretically worked for me.

I never get north of Roanoke unless I'm going all the way to New York and New England to see friends and family, or crossing over into W.V.I'm getting close to 75 and "hike" is an overstatement for my sauntering up & down mostly well-cleared trails (pic) and paved pathways. But there are plenty of those along the Blue Ridge Parkway and the New River, including a 4 mile "riverway" here in #Radford.
