  1. The Linux desktop is evolving.

Fedora Atomic, Universal Blue, and the shift from "snowflakes" to verifiable, reproducible images. I wrote about why OSTree, bootc, and images like Aurora & Bazzite are the future of reliable desktop computing.

  4. Ok, wow, another #Linux thing just happened that I didn't expect to work:

I noticed a high-pitched sound coming my new system, pressed the super key, typed in „fan“, opened #CoolerControl, saw that two #fans were running at 100%, turned of of them to 85% (which Just Worked(tm)!111?!), noise is gone 🤯

    Thanks, #Bazzite! 😍

(It's also kind of mind-blowing to me that #RGB control works out of the box with #OpenRGB, what magic is this!?)

  9. Finished writing up my notes from the deployment of our latest home server and our switch to uCore: https://github.com/scottsweb/hamlet

Highlights include local SSL, an in home Steam server with Wolf and services that scale to zero when not in use (thanks to Sablier).

  13. @bitprophet seems very similar to what @UniversalBlue is doing, especially with #Bluefin. But so far I love using Bluefin. I do also love #Debian so might try VanillaOS on another computer or VM.

But yeah still looking to experiment with a headless immutable #homelab server OS that is, first of all, easy to install, and second, easy to manage (e.g. via Cockpit). I think Universal Blue’s #uCore does a lot of that but it’s confusing to install unless I’m just an idiot (likely).

  17. We have a server-focused custom image called uCore!

It's @fedora CoreOS + extra things like Cockpit and Distrobox. Also comes with versions that have Nvidia drivers and ZFS.

    Check it out! github.com/ublue-os/ucore/
