February is Thingadailies, the blogging challenge to create something every day and write a post about it.
My thing today was a book trailer. Am I an expert in video editing? No, but I'm better now than I was this morning!#Thingadailies #Blog #BookTrailer

This little scamp decided the walls of the playpen were just a suggestion, so now the kittens have moved out of my office to the more secure bathroom.

My art skills aren't really up to this. Maybe it's time for me to hire out my sign making? But for tomorrow, we're going with these.

Rough day today. Over the weekend, little Chamomile started having increased respiratory rate and effort and just looked like crap. Given all his problems, we let him go this afternoon.
This is the sad part of fostering, but I feel better knowing we gave him a chance. He just had the deck stacked against him from the start.

Chamomile update:
He is not 100% (still weak and not yet playing), but he's eating almost entirely on his own, using the litter box reliably, and grooming!
I don't know what his long-term prognosis is, but I'm happy with the progress he's made in the last 10 days.

Little Chamomile's care has officially entered "write out a treatment sheet because it's hard to keep straight" territory. Today at his vet visit, we found out he's running a fever (which explains his weakness), and he's FeLV+, which complicates things a little.
Fingers crossed we can get him through this current crisis. If we can manage that, he'll be a special adoption to a home that has space for FeLV cats.

Hang in there, buddy. You'll feel better soon.

I knew this day was coming, but I'm still not prepared. Time to kitten-proof the rest of the office.

Didn't see the cat I'm trying to trap this evening. (She seems to be a late morning girl.) But I added this doofus to my collection of cats seen in the alley. Also threw out an entire bag of garbage from the garage.
Hanging out in the alley with the drop trap gives me a chance to talk to neighbors about TNR. And it's a pleasant place to sit in the evenings.
Next time I will bring my gardening gloves and pull some weeds.

Well, I saw the cat I'm trying to trap, but she showed up at the same time as another cat and took off when she saw him.
The good news is that I started the second scene in the current novel and tomorrow is another day.

It is time for "Trapalong 2026 Part Two: This Time It's Personal"

The funniest/stupidest interaction during the protest today was a middle-aged white guy in a huge truck who stopped at the intersection, rolled down his window, and idled his truck for ten seconds before finally yelling "Go away!" and roaring off.
I'm 100% sure his words would have been a lot more offensive if he hadn't been facing a wall of older white women.
We laughed at him. He deserves to replay that in his head over and over and burn with humiliation. Pathetic.

I want to know what the CEOs are smoking to make them believe that the best way to improve the checkout experience is to have every single customer slowly learn the interface on a self-checkout system.
Maaaybe it makes a little sense at a grocery store where people go every week, but standing in line at Michael's for 20 minutes watching other people try to check out was just... painful.
Know your fucking audience, Michael's.

New recruit for the kitten army!
She's about the same age as the other seven, but she has some upper respiratory gunk, so she's staying in my office until all that gets cleared up.
(She's also *very* pale — the fleas were feasting well.)

Look at this cutie!

Witch Hazel actually looks like a real cat these days!

Living dangerously with the chompy kitten sitting next to my face!
-
Witch Hazel is finally healthy. And she definitely needs some siblings to teach her that chomping on flesh isn't nice...

Okay, but *why*? There are other perfectly good beds and clean boxes in the playpen, so why must you sleep in the litter box? 😂

Drove to the shelter to a) hand off the foster kitten that was getting adopted, and b) get supplies for the remaining seven foster kittens. Super excited about getting down to a reasonable number of foster kittens!
Yep, came home with an eighth foster kitten.

Finally trapped the cat I was looking for and... she was lactating and I don't know where the kittens are, so I released her.
I'm hoping somebody will find the kittens and we can trap them all together, but... ugh.
-
Update: still haven't found the heavily pregnant cat (who has probably already had her kittens), but the other cat trapped last Thursday was spayed today...
... and she was trying to be a teen mom —early pregnancy that would have resulted in FIVE more feral cats in a couple months.
So that disaster has been averted. Now we just need to find the other one.
-
Bathroom feral (trapped last Thursday night and then had surgery date bumped to today) has been transferred into the long trap for transport. Minimal drama, nobody lost an eye.
30 minutes left to trap the other tabby. Probably not going to happen, but I have to try. The birds are enjoying the gloomy morning!
-
Cripes! There are now four cats here that I'm not trying to trap. WHERE IS THE TABBY???
-
Oh look, it's another two cats I'm not trying to trap.
-
This morning it was raining, so I stayed indoors. I have until 8am tomorrow to trap this cat. (Assuming she's still pregnant...) It's still sprinkling, but I've already seen two of the regulars, so that's a good sign. It would be even better if I had seen this cat since Friday morning.
Fingers crossed!

Feral mom: 6
Theresa: 0Once again, didn't even see her this evening. The only winners this week are the mosquitos.
