Since my #PineNote bricked, I decided to make a minimal e-reader out of an #arduino Uno R3, a small e-ink display, and a 2 GB SD module.
I send the text of a book over serial to be saved to the SD. A different sketch (shown here) loads the file and displays it on screen.
The Uno doesn't have much RAM, so I had to hardcode the font in program memory!
Next step, add some buttons and solder the setup into a breakout board so it looks less like a plate of spaghetti.
