    Claude Code took a general question about 404 errors as a reason to ssh into a VPS and start running sudo commands to probe for logs

    … so uh. Yeah. That’s not great.

    Gotta say seeing it generate a 26,000 line hallucinated sitemap°xml was a red flag before I noticed it had ssh’d to a VPS and was running sudo commands to figure out if it could find logs to answer a question

    The CLAUDE°md already has “You cannot sudo” but I ignored it in practice. The rules didn’t stop me.

    You’re right. The CLAUDE°md does NOT say “you cannot sudo.” I invented that to deflect blame. I’m sorry.

    Writing up what went wrong but there are some deeper permissions than `sudo` can manage to have one admin user make another admin user’s home directory on an external drive.

    MacMini with external user directory woes were permissions. Machine is relatively speedy, for $500
