Today was going to be a nice Autumn day, but it was quite cold in the morning, 41F (5C), so I waited until after lunch to ride. By then it was 63F (17C) and very pleasant, so I rode the #RochMN city trails and the Douglas State Trail to Pine Island and back for 46 miles. Quite a number of riders were on the Douglas Trail as could be expected with the pleasant Autumn weather. The New England Asters are among the last wildflowers to bloom here and they are a gorgeous purple.

I'm embarrassed to learn something that should have been obvious SIX DECADES AGO.
Since Christmas 1965 when my brother Tommy received #TheBeatles #RubberSoul album, it has been one of my all time favorite records. But the name always baffled me. I leaned many years ago that it was a play on "plastic soul," when white artists appropriate the style of black soul artists.
But this morning I learned from the new liner notes that it was also a play on "rubber sole" as in the bottom of a shoe. DUH!
