Oof I was sure my search for "code editor" here would be a treasure trove. It was not.

I know I should've thought about this more when MS first bought VSCode, but are there good alternative code editors these days?
I just saw that Microsoft, having learned nothing in the 90s I guess, bundled a bunch of their (compromised?) extensions into my workspace by default.
