    TLDR start using pnpm.

They have those scripts turned off by default.

    #npm #pnpm #javascript

    https://github.com/diamondburned/gotk4

  4. Oh, and I forgot to communicate about it, but to improve my error system, I created a hexagonal architecture example as a base to show how the domain stays strictly disconnected from my library and the domain errors can be used to control some error handling in the HTTP part.

    github.com/dolanor/rip/tree/ma

As usual, I'm excited to have some discussions around the design/improvements.

  6. For those who were at my session at @golab 2 days ago, I've published my slides: github.com/dolanor/talks/tree/ (they are in the present format, ask if you need help)

I also managed to add the protobuf encoding during my train misadventure. So that's 1 less thing to do. : github.com/dolanor/rip/commit/

I'm working in improving the error handling right now.

  7. @dolanor @rollbrettklauen Indeed is a powerful language, as well as , as (but I understand you want to avoid the JVM). As far as tooling is concerned, all of them have some level of incidental complexity though. There's also , which is a dialect of Haskell that transpiles to JavaScript, (dialect of OCaml), and ScalaJS (which still suffers from the same tooling of its parent). Funnily enough, the only language with a low complexity tooling wise is Elm

What a great read. Hard, but great.

This expresses a lot of why I don't like adulthood.
As adults, we need to prioritize and optimize everything that we do, because life is hard in its own way. And quite frankly, I hate it. It's filled with ridiculous priorities.
Even to stay connected with your own children can be a struggle if life is rough. And they live under your roof. This is crazy.

If there is one thing that AI could bring that I would be OK with, is to get rid of all those ridiculous priorities and hardness so we can keep friendship with those who really understand you.

  18. How would you handle email addresses/inboxes/aliases for a non-lucrative organization?

I have a dedicated email server I administrate. So I can create as many inboxes, accounts and aliases I want.

I want an inbox per official role (like treasury, communication, etc) so if people change at those roles, they still have the whole history of the inbox and exchanges.

But I also want individual people to be able to have their own inboxes.

Of course, replying to a message directed at treasury should be sent as treasury, and not the individual.

Are there some templates or good practice to manage that?

I was thinking the inbox of roles are just there for history purposes and forwarding to the current individual person handling the role. But when they reply, it will be with the role, and not their individual email address.

I use postfix and have an ldap to handle authentication and authorization.

  23. That makes me SO ANGRY…

    blog.pixelmelt.dev/kindle-web-

That reminds me of a time where I wanted to download an invoice from a provider for my company, and instead of receiving the PDF file that I was supposed to get, I received a f***ing json file with dictionary inside with the key being the index of the letter in the text, and the value being the byte.
Talking about an inefficient piece of trash.

I had to create a program to extract the data from it to write into the final PDF.
Of course, it was not complicated, but can people stop doing overly complex system that fails to provide the basics in the end?

Without talking about aggressively being asshole to customers like Amazon has proven many times.
