I went down a rabbithole looking into Alberta law restricting government advertising on referendums, trying to figure out if & why the pamphlet "Stand up for a Stronger Alberta: Your guide to the 2026 referendum" (which probably arrived in your mailbox last week) was even legal.
My (non-lawyer) interpretation is that there are some loopholes in the wording of the law which really need to be closed, but it clearly violates the intent of the law, so I hope there have been formal complaints that will force the UCP government to argue why they thought it was OK.
