Always interesting to see another point in Korean history. In the 1970s a man realizes that only the powerful have control of their lives. With a military background, he becomes an agent for the Korean CIA & sees gov. corruption up close. Taking advantage of his position, he becomes corrupt as well. Fun to see Hyun Bin as the antagonist. A justice-seeking prosecutor shows up, & the fight is on.
$$$ Beautifully executed set design, costuming, & cinematography create a feast for the eyes. Captivating story but the 2 season format made this 1st one feel incomplete: not enough time for a lot of char. dev. The amazing actors carry the show. Very violent & gory at times. Hoping the 2nd season will fully flesh out our characters and provide more insight into their relationships.

> 2018년 예멘 난민 이슈가 계기였죠. 그 당시 굉장히 어수선한 사회적 분위기는 있었지만 그 이후로 이들이 사회문제를 일으키지 않는다는 걸 사람들이 알게 되었잖아요. 그때는 별의별 극단적인 주장이 많았어요. 예멘 난민이 들어와서 한국을 이슬람화할 것이다, 밤에 돌아다니면서 성폭력을 일으킬 거다. 단순 논리의 대상화는 한 인간을 대할 때의 위험 요소로 작용할 수밖에 없어요. 그런 게 차별을 만들고, 혐오를 만들고, 증오를 만들죠. 그러다 결국 홀로코스트로 이어진 역사가 있잖아요.
