  1. CW: I watched Death Note for the first time in my life. Caution: Mild Spoilers.

Wow. That was like, the most mental gymnastics I have ever witnessed for real. I did not know was that there are so much rules to the book! Also, this protagonist is literally the smartest protag I have ever seen! Like, I for sure thought that this anime will be concluded at the first chapter, and I was in utter shock to see how it turned out!

I have now seen the infamous "All According To
Keikaku" (Translator's Note: Keikaku means "plan") scene, although Netflix had a sane sub unlike those fansubs. And I have also seen the popular "Gevanni did it overnight" scene as well. I knew the phase existed but my goodness was I surprised when the phrase had came up.

Can we talk about the translations for a bit? As a Japanese-English Translator, I can undoubtedly say that the translation for this anime was absolutely phenomenal!! Usually, anime translation kinda
sucks unless done by high-quality studio like 7-4. This is understandable, after all, the only kind of people who can catch a bad translation is a multilingual with enough language skill to catch a bad translation, and that's a tiny fraction of the viewers large companies usually do not invest money on.
The Death Note translation is, by far, the best translation I have ever seen in anime today. There were moments where, even I had to say "damn, that's an immaculate translation." or "Wow. I could have not came up with
that translation myself.". So, if you are a English speaker, you will be blessed. I watched it with Japanese audio and English subtitles, but just reading the subtitles makes me want to rewatch the series dubbed, that's how good the translation is for this anime. It is astonishing, god-tier job like no other.

The songs are super 2006 with the most anime-jpop song of that time, and then it goes to Death metal at season 2, an interesting change.

There is an idol in this anime that's really cute and her Gothic-Lolita and maid dress at the end definitely made this worth watching for me personally. I can finally see why some people would go as far to make their latest 3D models wear the same dress as her.

There was one scene where our rival antagonist cleans and massages the protagonist's feet. They are both wet. I was not expecting that at all.

Overall, it was definitely a great anime. I can understand why this is said to be one of the best anime of all time because the main character and his rival is super smart and there is a lot of thinking about murder involved. It's almost like you are watching a murder mystery with only one supernatural element: the death note. If you are type of person who enjoys murder mysteries and fights of deductive reasonings rather than sword and magic, this is probably the anime worth watching.
If this a light novel that came out today, I'd title it something like this:
Death Note: How I Brought Justice to All Evil and Became the God of New World by Killing Everyone Who I Thought Deserved DEATH
