#BFMTV qui invite #Zemmour et qui s'étonne de ses propos, alors qu'iels l'ont EXACTEMENT invité pour ça (faire du Zemmour). On ne peut pas lancer un mégot encore allumé sur une botte de paille et s'étonner qu'elle finisse par prendre feu, en disant "Ah bah merde c'est inflammable" !

French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin has initiated the process of banning integralist (read: Catholic fascist) group Civitas in response to a video that the group presented at its “summer university”. The video showed conspiracy theorist Pierre Hillard arguing that French citizenship for Jews should be revoked. Specifically, he claimed that Jews have “opened the doors to immigration” since their naturalization in 1791 and that “it may be necessary to return to pre-1789 conditions”, thus invoking “great replacement” theory, “classical” reactionary thinking, and the most fundamental antisemitic conspiracy theories all at once. (Of note: the Pittsburgh synagogue mass murderer who was just sentenced to death this week also took action based on the assumption that a) immigration is inherently bad and b) Jews are responsible for it.)

Civitas was formed in 1999. In 2016, it became eligible to receive government funding as a political party and, more recently, it made headlines in France for things like shutting down an organ recital in a church in May, claiming that the composer/organist had written sacreligious music. It has also engaged in protests against shelters for asylum seekers and supported the presidential campaign of fascist Eric Zemmour in 2022.

Darmanin also disbanded Génération Identitaire a few years ago, which is basically nice, but he’s generally an authoritarian asshole who has also banned environmental groups and led the draconian efforts by French police to quell the recent uprising after police officers murdered Nahel Merzouk. It’s almost like the state repressive apparatus isn’t actually a reliable ally. 🤷‍♂️
