    Cas van Erp's paper on the extragalactic diffuse interstellar bands (xDIBs) in NGC 6240 has now appeared in A&A.
    This is the first real mapping of two of these very faint interstellar absorption features in a galaxy at such large distance. Only possible because the MUSE spectrograph is so sensitive and the students worked hard on these data.

    Several cool results in the paper, just one: The DIBs correlate more strongly with stellar than gas attenuation in NGC 6240. This could be used in further studies to shed some light on the carriers, especially when carried out in more galaxies.

    The first extragalactic maps of the faint diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) in a galaxy at a distance of 100 Mpc.
    Great work written up by a former astronomy student in Leiden. I could contribute some help with the MUSE data.
