I was thinking about an zero cost and easy way to prove primacy creating a document. While there's no serious security here, at all, thanks to federation a post gets quickly propagated publicly so it would be very hard to hack all the host servers later. This is the first real mapping of two of these very faint interstellar absorption features in a galaxy at such large distance. Only possible because the MUSE spectrograph is so sensitive and the students worked hard on these data.

About a million years ago when I was on the night staff at Apache Point Observatory, we carried out regular, high-res spectro observations of stars searching for the carriers of the diffuse interstellar bands. It's great to see ongoing science from that project. When it started, the chemical nature of the carriers was still mysterious. Now we have a much better idea of the compounds involved.

This is a good chance to remind astro followers that the #CosmicMicrowaveBackground was discovered as a blackbody background temperature @2.3 K by McKellar [1] in *1941* using Adams' observations [2] of #DiffuseInterstellarBands (#DIBS).
With the ADS+Wikipedia, there's no need to blindly repeat the popular textbook myth that Penzias & Wilson discovered the #CMB; they only *re*-discovered it.
