#writingquestion do you ever write (or have you read) someone misspeak where it wasn't important to the plot?
For example, I just said to my wife, "This isn't going to be my first appointment... I mean my last appointment."
These speech patterns are a normal part of everyday speech, but I can't recall seeing it in literature. Everyone is precise and perfect (enough) because it would be too hard for the reader.
Are there counterexamples?
