Tardis Bucket List 5/2/23
The Theatre Royal, #Dundee, on 2 December, 1858.
This is the first and only theatrical performance of my hero, #WilliamMcGonagall, Poet and Tragedian of Dundee. Famed as an awful poet, he also fancied himself as an actor. Together with his fellows handloom weavers, they hired the theatre for a night and put on #Macbeth.
McGonagall played Macbeth and refused to die in the final fight with Macduff, to the great delight of the audience. I want to be there as well.

On 28 December 1879, a tragic accident occurred when the Tay Bridge in Scotland collapsed during a storm while a train was crossing it, resulting in the death of all 75 passengers and three crew. A new bridge was built in 1887.
‘The Tay Bridge Disaster’ (1880), is a poem (see image below) written by the Scottish poet William McGonagall, who has been recognised as the worst poet in history.
