In this week's installment of my #wikiversity #os course, we are exploring #filesystems. The lecture covers the basics of file systems and takes a somewhat deep look at FAT32, and the activity has you implement a file system that I designed called "The Brittle File System." (As the name implies, you probably shouldn't store anything important in it!)

I would love if more people contributed to #Wikiversity. I #Wikipedia is the most well known project from the Wikimedia Foundation but when you go so far down the rabbit hole reading Wikipedia articles that you actually want to learn more, Wikiversity is great (assuming someone has taken the time to actually write about the topic you want to study).

The problem I found is that a lot of the "schools"/"degrees" and the resulting lectures are marked as being less than half finished. There are so many different people with different skill sets here and a wide variety of knowledge that we could collectively make Wikiversity a great place to learn.

@ben_crowell_fullerton hello Ben. I would very much like to help with the translations of your books to any languages, especially French my mother tongue, as they are #oer. Maybe the tools #po4a & the #gettext tools can help. Another idea is to share them on #wikibooks & use them as références for courses on #wikiversity possibly, the #mastodonCommunity could help for technical bits. Hope to read you soon.

I'm pretty experienced on #wikipedia. If anyone can figure out my handle from there, I will seed a new article on any topic of their choosing that meets #wikimedia foundation standards. This applies also to #wikiversity #wikibooks

I've started trying out #Wikifunctions, a project that hasn't launched yet but is available in beta.

Many years ago I signed up to #Wikiversity the day it went out of beta. I was also promoted to administrator the same day because they needed admins and I had experience. I never did much there, but Wikifunctions looks way, way more promising.

I don't know if it's a good idea to do that sort of thing at #Wikiversity these days, but years ago it seemed appropriate. I just wish #Wikimedia had an equivalent to #OpenStretMap's user diaries!
