3/ At the time, the #Whitehorse #Walmart wanted campers to park along the right side of the lot (when you face the store). This edge of the lot is just across the adjacent roadway from the #Yukon river.

There's a short period there in the autumn when the air is just about at freezing at sunrise -- but the #YukonRiver is still quite a bit warmer.

So I got up early the next morning, and walked across the river to the bank of the Yukon.

It was just magical. The mist was rising from the warm river, through and around the vegetation, and back-lit by the sun starting to color the eastern sky.

And I didn't have to walk more than 50 feet from the #RV door to see it.

As I said, it was the single best campsite we've had in nearly 2 decades of #RVing, and ~ 30 months on the road. And it was just a Walmart parking lot -- in exactly the right place, at exactly the right time.

Another watercolor and conte painting, this one done at Miles Canyon on the Yukon River near Whitehorse. It is in a vertical format, not so usual for me, but I think the composition works OK.
