  1. 100+ Days Around India: Hello from Dharamshala!

    Photo Cred: Aishwarya

Why do I always feel free when I go to the mountains?

You would have heard of the saying, ‘the mountains are calling & I must go”

Well, the person who came up with that must have been a really happy person.

    Must I go?

For peace, yes. For feeling free, yes. For recharging my heart and soul once again, so I can face my 30s with the same zeal and fire that I carried in my 20s. That’s life, that’s the beauty of life. A lot of people say to me that life is linear…we wake up, we go to work and we learn something new every day…a new way to face life. But traveling to unknown places and looking at the world with so much love and appreciation has taught me that it is not about living your days in the same motion, without questioning your purpose.. If you know your purpose, you are strong. If you don’t know it, you must keep searching…

I am in Naddi, a peaceful town in the lap of the Himalayas. A place that is so close to my heart, a place that has changed my body clock in a matter of a few days.. I have slowed down so much, so fast. Is this a miracle or what?

Does it get boring in the city, often? Yes. Can we always escape the monotony of life and leave whenever we want? Not always, but with the changing culture in offices and other spaces, it has become somewhat easy. Still, is travel just a form of entertainment, or do we need to travel for the search of something important?

Now that we are living in the 21st century, here are some of the rules that I have learned about my life, as I step into my 30s:

    1. Happiness is important, but not at the cost of independence.
    2. Don’t trust everything you see on social media. Stay connected to your inner voice.
    3. The joy of doing nothing is probably the most important path to master.
    4. Work is going to come and go, but your answer lies within, if you dare enough to ask

and 5…don’t forget to smile, every now and then, at life. Now, onto the Himachal Pradesh experience.

    Hello from Naddi!!

As I announced earlier, I am spending 100+ days around India. I have a black bag for clothes, my work bag and a whole lot of……yeah, that’s all. Not enough money haha.

I am setting myself a budget, so that I do not go overboard on stuff that I don’t need. I want to live simply, and enjoy all the peace that I am going to get. My first few days in Dharamshala have been spectacular and beyond my expectations. I have enjoyed every single moment, so far. I started my trip on a high note, didn’t carry any high expectations and just decided to go with the flow.

I am amazed by the many new learnings that I have got about this little corner of the world, in such less time! I am currently experiencing the village life, where my routine consists of waking up to picturesque views, taking long walks uphill and downhill, and eating a lot of protein such as omelettes and other delicious local food like Himachali rajma. The local life is top notch!

I just want to say that regardless of who is going to these places, it is our duty to keep the country and the surroundings that we live in…clean! How odd is it that we learn about cleanliness as a child, but forget about it, as we grow up! Speaking of India, I think it is high time that we see a change in the cleanliness rating, isn’t it?

Please keep India clean. Or, believe me, we won’t realise when we lose the beauty and our country becomes the dump that foreigners have quietly been pointing out to us for decades.

  3. Old Manali: A SHORT Trip Here!

Old Manali seems to attract people who happen to be more inward-looking than most other tourist spots in Manali. Although, you may find that the rest of Manali is now oversaturated with tourists, there is something very simple, calming & nurturing about Old Manali. It can be your kinda place, if you are up for a solo crowd-escaping adventure in the mountains! Now, let’s check that spot off your bucket list.

I am right at the start of a mind-numbing, life-changing travel journey, and I am starting slow. First up, I hit up Manali, since it is the closest Himalayan resort town to me. I only did a 48-hour trip, but I enjoyed the slow pace and the evergreen pleasant vibes around the narrow lanes.

Oh! Now that I am talking more openly about my dreams of travelling + storytelling, here’s my 1st Old Manali vlog to give you a closer look of my experience. Mostly, I did walk around quite a lot, worked from my room and also, tried the Nepali and the German breakfasts in town. Keep following me on YouTube and explore India with me!

While this was a really short trip, I still recommend the following few things:

Check out German Bakery & Nepali Sandwich Bar

Stay at La Voglia or Desire Hostel

Check out this one really nice faux leather bag shop down the streets on your left, if you coming from the top. Oh. My. God. My foreign friends, they sell incredible things that may be very expensive for you outside. The owner is a gem-hearted guy, and his brother owns a shop in Germany. You can trust the quality.

I also recommend the Bhagsu Cake, if you have never ever tried this famous local delicacy in the Himalayan hills. Its mostly a mix of dark chocolate on a biscuit base. It is the Indian version of shortbread. Damn tasty!

I hope that as I grow in my storytelling journey, ‘THE WORD OF AISH’, and grow my YouTube channel, I can show you more and more about the beautiful land I call home.

    Bbye!

  5. The Presidio, San Francisco, 8:32 a.m.

    *sigh*

Guys... I'm sorry to say it is looking less and less likely that Starfleet, or the United Federation of Planets, will be headquartered in the Presidio... or anywhere else in the United States, for that matter.

    I hate this timeline.
