#washingtonweek — Public Fediverse posts

Live and recent posts from across the Fediverse tagged #washingtonweek, aggregated by home.social.

  1. During its decades of covering current events, #WashingtonWeek on PBS had no one from the Atlantic magazine. Recently 2 of its 5 speakers were from the Atlantic. Yesterday they went to a new extreme where 4 out of 5 of their speakers were from the Atlantic magazine instead of having a diversity of viewpoints. I think they made a mistake. #media

  2. The problems that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is causing, ranging from the continued apparently unjustified killings of dozens of people in the Caribbean to talking about secret information to an unauthorized person during a military attack on Yemen, are discussed in this half hour episode of #WashingtonWeek:

  3. My previous boost mentioned: "Trump’s weird celebration, the saddest birthday parade in the world."

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was responsible for that pathetic attempt at a parade, and people at #WashingtonWeek said he is who Trump correctly blames for this sad sight. Pete could be fired very soon. 😀

  4. There are many reasons for Trump to fire Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The embarrassingly pathetic military parade on Trump's birthday
is why Trump could soon fire Pete Hegseth, according to #WashingtonWeek.

  5. When I say "Peter Baker is certainly not a conservative shill" @PattyHanson, my conclusion is based on what he wrote often in the New York Times, and what he said on #WashingtonWeek on PBS where he is often a panelist. He is usually critical of Trump. He is a moderate, not a conservative. I like Peter Baker. I do not like anyone who is pro-Trump. #media #politics

  6. According to #WashingtonWeek, Joe Biden was weak before this date, but by April 2023 Joe Biden fell apart, in the sense that he was almost helpless. His advisers kept him hidden to a very large extent. Campaign adviser Mike Donilon demanded to be paid $4 million in campaign funds to work for Biden, and Biden approved of that outrageously large payoff. This was one example of Biden's poor judgment. Even worse was Biden's active support of genocide by Israel against innocent Palestinians.

  7. Despite everything that happened in Washington DC and in the world last week, #WashingtonWeek on PBS devoted its entire half hour to this news report: the Jake Tapper book #OriginalSin about Joe Biden's unfitness to be president and how Biden's insisting to seek re-election helped to re-elect Trump. They also showed some of Biden's miserably bad answers to debate questions, when Biden and Trump were on stage together, to let voters compare each candidate to his opponent. Biden fell apart.

  8. On #WashingtonWeek, Eugene Daniels spoke about Republican Senators being afraid of violence from pro-Trump extremists. He should have confessed his own fear which led him, like a coward, to fire talented comedian Amber Ruffin from being the entertainer at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner. #politics #media

  10. People on #WashingtonWeek were also surprised that Kamala Harris made 'the Politics of Joy' her theme, because it was so out of step with the mood of most voters. They were mainly angry voters. #politics

  11. By insisting on an early #debate, Pres. Joe Biden revealed himself to be incompetent to be a presidential candidate, and he was quickly (but not quickly enough) replaced by Kamala Harris. If the debate had been held in October, as it often is, Biden would have remained the candidate because there would not have been enough time to replace him. This is via #WashingtonWeek #politics

  12. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was going to be in the new Trump Cabinet, maybe as Secretary of Defense, until Tucker Carlson persuaded Trump to reject Pompeo, according to #WashingtonWeek

  13. Peter Baker, a senior reporter at the New York Times, was notorious for often starting his answer to questions on #WashingtonWeek with the words: "That's a good question." Yesterday he said "That's a g" before he cut himself off, maybe realizing that his overuse of that phrase was getting ridiculous.

  14. On #WashingtonWeek, on PBS, its host Jeffrey Goldberg insisted that Kristi Noem is the governor of North Dakota. She is governor of South Dakota. Someone on this panel corrected Jeffrey later, during this television program.

  15. Why the f is #WashingtonWeek talking about tfg so much? Remove the oxygen. Omg.

  16. @lovelylovely

#WashingtonWeek spent their airing talking about #Harris and didn't mention any of the strange things #trump said this week! #sanewashing trump!

  17. @jeffjarvis while we’re waiting to find out if media outlets operating under the dominant American corporate capitalism model will learn the right lesson, I hope we can try other viable options. For television news, I value so much having programs like #PBSNewsHour and #WashingtonWeek, but those programs target only a small fraction of voters. I’d love to see PBS produce some alternative, much lighter news programming to reach a wider audience @PBSNewsHour @LisaD @pbump @MAD_democracy

  18. 🤔 If Trump Wins
(and what would we be in for 😬)

You’ll want to watch this. Pass on to friends and family. Get this month’s issue of @theatlantic. May be the most important thing you do this year!

“The Atlantic just published a special issue devoted to answering the question, what happens if #Trump wins? Join moderator Jeffrey Goldberg, McKay Coppins, Franklin Foer, Clint Smith and Adrienne LaFrance for this special discussion”

  19. Watching #WashingtonWeek on #pbs and #steveinskeep is on the panel.
So weird to have a face with that voice.
I didn't think that voice could have a face.

Great face, though. Matches the voice.
