Welcome back my readers, YouTube viewers and all others who followed this series of articles focused on YouTube videos worth watching.

#1 Street Fighter III: New Generation Revisited – Way back in 1994, I had a blast of fun playing Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) plus other Street Fighter II games in the arcades. Naturally, I had a personal anticipation for Street Fighter III. However, Capcom released Street Fighter Alpha (Street Fighter Zero) and follow-up games over the next few years. In the 1st quarter of 1997, I saw Street Fighter III: New Generation in the local arcade and quickly inserted tokens to play it. I was very impressed with its super-smooth animation and enjoyed it. Still, something about the game felt hollow and weird as well which is related to the fact that Ryu and Ken were the only established Street Fighter characters who returned. Indeed, there was something odd that happened behind the scenes at Capcom when Street Fighter III: New Generation was made. Watch and learn from the videos below.

#3 Farm-Raised Eels Launched In Japan – In Japanese cuisine, eels are a popular delicacy and they make a great choice of meat to consume with rice. Due to the sharp decline of eels at sea, farms that spent a lot of time and resources of breeding eels provided the alternative for Japanese demand. #4 Shenmue Retrospective – Shenmue, the most defining game ever released on the short-lived Sega Dreamcast, has long been featured in countless articles and retrospective videos over the past twenty-six years. Under the leadership and design of the legendary Yu Suzuki, Shenmue turned out to be a very groundbreaking video game when it comes to exploration, adventuring and interactions with characters (including non-playable characters or NPCs) and items. Back in 2003, the incumbent governor Gray Davis was very unpopular and a lot of Californians got fed up with the many problems that affected them. When the move to recall Davis grew tremendously, several people filed their candidacies for Governor of California but it was Schwarzenegger who outmaneuvered them. Given the fact that he starred in three Terminator movies – all of which were filmed in California – he would later be called as “the Governator” after taking office. Thank you for your service but I don't expect any #WarMovie (whether depicted on land, on sea &/or in the air) to film the action as it actually would have happened w/o any technical deficiencies.

I've never been a submariner nor a crew member on a sub-seeking destroyer (nor an infantryman nor a pilot) so I can view war movies without reality interfering with my ability to enjoy the movie as presented.

All that I hope for is that the movie will be involving, entertaining, exciting & realistic enough to me to suspend any disbelief regarding the action as filmed.

The #Greyhound did that for me. Reality, of course, is another matter. 🤷

2ος παγκόσμιος πόλεμος. Ο κόκκινος στρατός είναι στο δρόμο προς Βερολίνο αλλά στα μετόπισθεν δίνεται μια διαφορετική "μάχη".
Ο Ναϊντένοφ, οδηγός τεθωρακισμένου επιζεί μετά από μια άγρια μάχη κι ενώ οι γιατροί δεν του έδιναν ποτέ ελπίδες.
Μετά την αποκατάσταση της υγείας του κι ενώ έχει χάσει από τη μνήμη του όλο το παρελθόν του, αποκτά εμμονή με την ιδέα να καταστρέψει το μυστηριώδες "λευκό" τανκ των ναζί που όποτε εμφανίζεται καταστρέφει τα στρατιωτικά τους τάγματα και το ίδιο παραμένει αλώβητο.

Προτείνω να μην την δείτε σαν μια ακόμα πολεμική ταινία καθώς δε νομίζω ότι αυτός ήταν ο σκοπός των δημιουργών. Έχει πολλά επίπεδα ερμηνείας, αρκετό συμβολισμό, και ωραίο τέλος που δίνει τροφή για σκέψη.
Αν ο David Lynch έκανε ποτέ πολεμική ταινία... ίσως να γύριζε κάτι παρόμοιο.

Η ταινία έχει πάρει Χρυσό Αετό για καλύτερη ταινία μυθοπλασίας, καλύτερης μουσικής, καλύτερου μοντάζ και καλύτερης ηχοληψίας, στα Golden Eagle Awards.

True 60s weirdness. A group of US soldiers commandeer a French castle packed with priceless art treasures to stop the German advance in 1944. Much talk about the value of art and life follows, combined with spectacular battle scenes only a major studio could finance. Does it all work? Noooo! Can I get it out of my head ? Not for a second.

A favourite film a day for 365 days.
A Russian tank gets cut off during the 80s invasion of Afghanistan. The commander dreams of the glories of fighting Nazis in WW2. The crew bicker. The driver is thrown out and left to die, only to be discovered by the enemy... This is a bleak, completely unromantic little film that nobody saw, probably because it's so bleak and completely unromantic. It's also absolutely gripping and unforgettable.

Years ago I made my first feature film about a returning combat veteran facing his inner-war back home. Tried to make an anti-war film that pro-war people would actually watch and portray the real cost of war in a blunt and visceral way.
