  1. Brief QSO on the #N8ZVZ repeater with Bill #N8ZVZ using #TGIFDMR talk group 3216059. That repeater is also connected via Allstarlink (not tried yet), Echolink (also not tried yet), and Hams over IP 15198 (successful QSO on Friday).

This repeater is also part-time on the #W8IRA linked repeater network, and on Friday I had a QSO via the Ann Arbor 146.94 linked repeater.

If there is ever a "worked all counties, 2 meter repeater and digital modes, Michigan" contest I'm in for it.

  2. @nivex

I had tried to use DVSwitch Mobile on my own but the user interface is something to behold - deep menus and no easy sign of what the happy path is to do this task.

There is a new(*) repeater near here connected to the #W8IRA net over Allstar, that motivated me to get this going. That - and the disappearance of Hamshack Hotline which had bridges to a number of repeaters that you could just dial directly from a VOIP phone.(**)

    * new hardware on old frequency pair
    ** not really ham radio

  3. CW: Linking amateur radio repeaters without the Internet

@freakazoid In Michigan we have the #w8ira and #mi-5 repeater networks. Both are non reliant on in internet for core functions.

  4. CW: Morning net, bicycle mobile

@W8HF There was noise on the Ann Arbor 5.15 (Washtenaw County, #N8DUY, EN82cg, PL 100) repeater, which we usually attribute to Tiffin, Ohio (Seneca County, #KB8EOC, EN81id, PL107.2) but could also be Battle Creek MI (Calhoun County, #W8IRA, EN72kg?, PL 94.8).

The effect gets described as "motor boating", perhaps when there's doubling on the input?

It looks like I could plausibly listen to the W8IRA net using Echolink W8IRA-R (node 974494) or Allstar, node 472440.

  5. I am up early enough (!) for the 800a 2 meter net on #N8DUY in Ann Arbor, MI. Looking forward to it.

This is a sunrise net and so sometimes there are weird band conditions. When there's a 2m band opening, there will be interference from Battle Creek MI (on the #W8IRA net) and from Bascom, Seneca County OH (on #KB8EOC).

The #N8DUY tower is really tall and the repeater has a powerful signal. Grid #EN82cg
