  1. I'm not too much of a Podcast person. But I do listen to 1 or 2 from time to time. But if you like content related to science and curiosity you have to listen (or watch on YouTube) to The Rest Is Science podcast with Professor Hannah Fry and science creator Michael Stevens (Vsauce).
If you don't know who #Vsauce is, you're missing a lot. He's like the Best Friend you never had, or that teacher everyone wants to be in his class.

  3. A 5lb bag of flour contains about 2.7 billion individual specks of flour dust

if each of those particles were a person, three bags could represent each and every person alive on earth today

But how many people have ever been born?... This many

But out of all of these people, out of everyone who has ever existed, *this* is how many you will ever meet.

You are a stranger to your own species.

  4. Finally had the time to finish the video.

That was such a #Vsaucey video, I'm so happy right now.

If I had to choose one YouTube Channel
i could watch for the rest of my life, it would definitely be Vsauce.

  5. That's definitely something I didn't have on my list. A proper #Vsauce video. 😱

  6. I absolutely adore this video (a YouTube short): youtube.com/shorts/sv-1cXvOoNQ

because it so intuitively and naturally communicates the essence of set theory and higher order logic

it viscerally describes the raw power of comprehension, of abstraction

    #math #logic #vsauce

  7. My experience clicking on unlabeled #YouTube "Shorts" videos (because they don't show the channel icon or name anymore and it makes me less likely to click on things if I don't know what to expect) is "What channel is this? 'Why does Earth look 'drippy'?' What? Oh, it's just Vsauce."

  8. Wisst gar nicht, dass #Vsauce Michael beim ESC mitsingt #EST #ESC2024

  9. @georgetakei It has to do with shutter speeds and how a camera records the image it sees.

if you want an explanation of what’s going on see the link from Michael from #vsauce

  10. "#Happiness is depressing. There is no more seminal human concept than the pursuit of happiness. A nation was built around the right to do it, and even the international brigade of wine moms insists on living, laughing, and loving. But people are miserable and it's getting worse. The data on pursuing happiness is in and it's not good. And it's not just an #Economics thing. Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman found that even if we all had exactly the same level of income, our differences in life satisfaction would be reduced by less than five percent. And trying to increase social status correlates with depression, anxiety, and mental illness. Life expectancy is higher, technology is advancing rapidly, on paper we should be happier than ever, and we've never been so sad. We're doing it all wrong -- and no one cares."

  11. @graytail Not really a different or original take (on new tech). But really tho why should there be a limit to the growth potential. We all need the energy and resources; more so in developing countries. Ultimately we won't know anything about how to move forward until the technology is here and in use for a few years.

Check out this old #vsauce video on the topic (youtube.com/watch?v=SHZAaGidUb)

I think it is worth watching to contextualize and have a meaningful chat.

    A #Palindrome in #MorseCode
    youtube.com/watch?v=HY_OIwideL

The method #MichaelStevens of #VSauce / #DING shows for associating a letter with the stressed / unstressed parts of a word or phrase is an interesting one.
I can definitely see that as a #MnemonicDevice I would use for #encoding a message in #Morse code.
However, I have a hard time seeing how I would use it for #decoding a message…
Apart from #muscleMemory from repeated encoding with it?
