Oh. An agroecology AI made by brazilian grassroot activists. That is... interesting.
I have so many questions. And very, very mixed feelings. Can somebody give me some more perspective?
I mean, to me, fundamental opposition against AI seems necessary for our survival as a species (I am much less worried about the robots replacing us, but very much worried about our society handing even more power and tools to fascists and surveillance eictatorships. And this is a concern both for the US as well as for China).
On the other hand, if activists from the global south consider pragmatically that an agroecology chatbot is what they need, who am I to criticize this decision?
Still, I struggle to see the Chinese government's industrialist and centralist ideology aligning with agroecological principles.

Seeing the Chinese model of technological development at close quarters has provided us with much inspiration: a model in which the state directs technology to serve the people, and in which data is treated as a factor of production at the service of a collective project. We have received concrete technical support from colleagues living in a society where this debate and this development are more advanced, and who have already gained experience in developing open-source RAG tools and language models."
But again, since our great 'Western' ideology brought the world to the brink of collapse, I am very open for discussions and different perspectives.
