    A few hours ago, the Smile satellite was launched from the Kourou Spaceport in French Guiana atop a Vega-C rocket. After about 56 minutes, the Smile satellite separated from the rocket's last stage and began maneuvers that are scheduled to last approximately 25 days.

  21. Sadly #VV22 #VegaC suffered an anomaly - see the link to the timestamp below, when the second stage powered by Zefiro 40 starts underpeforming and "swinging" with the gimballed thrust control (the stream continued for the next 10 minutes).

    Zefiro 40 is a new engine introduced with the Vega C, but unlike the first stage motor, it's largely derived from the Zefiro 23 used in the first-gen Vega.

    Cause of the failure will be investigated in coming weeks.

  32. Tomorrow night we'll have the second #VegaC launch of its career - #VV22 will also be Vega C's first commercial launch - Italian launcher built by Avio will lift Airbus's Pléiades Neo #EarthObservation satellites.

    Airbus funds, manufactures and operates #PléiadesNeo as their own constellation from which they sell services to commercial and institutional customers alike. In a way it's similar to what SpaceX did with Starlink (only Airbus doesn't launch it themselves).
