  1. New #review today: "#ThinkLikeAKeyRecords continues its run of archival excavations with The #KibboKift - The 1976 Rock Musical by #MaxwellHutchinson and #JudgeSmith (best known as a co-founder of #VanDerGraafGenerator). The concept is undeniably compelling: a dramatization of the eccentric British youth movement that evolved from pastoral, quasi-mystical idealism into something far more ideological. On paper, it sits squarely in the lineage of S.F. Sorrow, Tommy, and even The Kinks’ Preservation." #ExposeOnline #PsychedelicRock #ProgressiveRock #RockMusical expose.org/index.php/articles/

  6. 50 years ago, #VanDerGraafGenerator released their Still Life album, which is my favourite of theirs and a fantastic record overall. Here's my #bass cover of the third track, La Rossa:

  7. NEW post: Judge Smith (founder member #VanderGraafGenerator) – “this terribly English musical artist will never be a rock superstar, but he is engaging, silly, inventive, odd, clever, unique. I can't think of a comparison anywhere in the British music scene.”

We pick a (Chris) Judge Smith top 10 …

  10. Peter Hammill in professional music circles is often considered a genius, but because of his writing style many music listeners can't get to grips with his finely tuned records. Personally I like the liquid style as you never quite know where the music is leading you. What do I think 🤔
The man is a genius ❤️
The Progzilla Radio progressive rock show special on Peter broadcast on 16th November is well worth a listen 😊🎶

  12. "My Ding-a-Ling" is a #noveltySong written and recorded by #DaveBartholomew. It was covered by Chuck Berry in 1972 and became his only number-one #Billboard #Hot100 single in the #UnitedStates. Later that year, a longer version was included on the album #TheLondonChuckBerrySessions. Guitarist Onnie McIntyre and #RobbieMcIntosh, a drummer who later formed the #AverageWhiteBand, played on the single along with #NicPotter of the British band #VanDerGraafGenerator on bass.

  17. Next up on my (music) reading pile: ‘Rock and Role: The Visionary Songs of Peter Hammill and Van der Graaf Generator’ by Joe Banks.

I enjoyed Banks’s book about Hawkwind, so I’m looking forward to digging into this one. I was interested to read in one of PH’s recent newsletters that he’d not been interviewed for the book - it’s unclear whether that was Hammill’s decision or the author’s…

  22. And it was such a wonderful, intensely emotional show. He began with the Van der Graaf Generator song ‘My Room (Waiting for Wonderland)’, one of my favourites, and ended with ‘A Vision’.
