I'm looking for a coffee shop (or even a café) to host a meetup to have a bunch of Golang engineers congregate to chat about the Go programming language.
Anyone know of any?
Preference: Metrotown and Downtown New Westminster.
But anywhere Downtown Vancouver, Metrotown, Brentwood, Downtown New Westminster, and Surrey Central is fine.

I'm at Handmade Expo in Vancouver, and I watched @michaellabbe demo Grain DDL.
An insanely useful tool for serialization formats (among other).

How Clever (10 Photos)
This collection brings together smart and surprising ideas from different places: a Doggie Stick Library, a painted illusion in Indiana, a skull pushing through a wall in an abandoned site, a fragmented traveler sculpture in Italy, an octopus mural in Vancouver, a deep 3D piece in Mexico, a small Oakoak intervention in France, a full-building ship mural in Brussels, a geometric bench in Luxembourg, and a tiny creature scene hidden in a sidewalk crack. Fedicon in Vancouver is going to be the best Fediverse-related event to have happened in a long time.
Definitely check it out!
I will most certainly be there!

I finally got a flash for macro photography! Haven't had time to use it a whole lot (a lot of rain and busy with work) but I did get these shots when visiting my grandfather.

Flowers are finally coming out for springtime!
These are unedited JPGs from my camera - I've been experimenting with this kind of photography a lot more this year, because I want to improve my basic skills - rather than relying on editing to fix mistakes or make improvements.#Fujifilm #VancouverCanada #MacroPhotography #Photography #FujiFX10

Sea wall night photos 1/2
It's always kind of hard to get the colours right when editing night shots from the city. In the daytime, it's easy enough - sunlight is usually a predictable colour, and beyond that it's mostly just a question of stylization. At night though, most of the light comes from artificial sources, so there's no single gauge to easily base everything on and it ends up being much more of a guessing game.#VancouverCanada #Fujifilm #FujiXS10 #CityPhotography #NightPhotography

Washed up boat in English Bay.
This is a pretty common sight on the beaches around here after winter storms, and it's always kind of sad to see - but makes for some unique photos at least. -
Another macro bug - with a very small depth of field, because it was moving around too much for me to close the aperture more (which would mean I'd need a slower shutter speed, creating motion blur).
This is a beetle in the genus Ellychnia, which is actually a kind of firefly - but since they're diurnal instead of nocturnal, they don't glow like other fireflies. I think they still look pretty unique though!#BugPhotography #Fujifilm #FujiXS10 #MacroPhotography #firefly #VancouverCanada

Flat backed millipede and springtail in Stanley Park!
Catching the millipede while it was sitting still was probably the most difficult part of this - it kept running around and making my photos blurry.#MacroPhotography #BugPhotography #Millipede #Fujifilm #VancouverCanada #StanleyPark

Zebra jumping spider!
This was on a sign in Stanley Park, Vancouver.
Getting into photographic tiny creatures is one of the big reasons I got a macro lens. Turns out it's pretty tricky to do well (especially since I don't have a flash right now), but I thought these shots turned out at least ok!#MacroPhotography #Fujifilm #JumpingSpider #VancouverCanada #StanleyPark #MacroBugs

NY subways (pt. 7 in this series of posts)
Coming from Vancouver with our functional but very limited couple of Skytrain lines, seeing an actually-complete subway network for the first time was an eye-opening experience.
It was also a lot of fun to take longer-exposure photos in the somewhat dim stations. There's a lot more where these came from, so follow along if that sounds interesting! -
Macro Mushrooms!
It's not exactly mushroom right now, but I was able to find these small ones in Stanley Park anyway. I'm still learning to make good macro photos/edits - I wasn't as happy as I had hoped with either of these, but hopefully they're still interesting!

If you haven't been following along: I removed the anti-pink filter from the camera, and now everything's pink.
Don't worry, the camera is now safely back together and in one piece - well, minus two screws. Hope those weren't important.
(Also I'm kidding, it was an infrared filter, so what you're seeing is stuff that's bright in infrared showing up as pink)
-
More infrared!
Just like the ominous sign in my previous infrared post, I feel like this building does a good job matching the semi-surreal vibe which this kind of photography invites.
Any ideas for other things to photograph in infrared?Camera: Lumix FZ35 converted for infrared
Editing: white balance correction and basic brightness/contrast fixes in Lightroom -
Happy Valentines day!
I happened upon these deer while on a walk, and they seemed too distracted with each other to care that I was making photos.
I actually took these back in 2022 (but re-edited them more recently)Camera: Fujifilm X-S10 with 70-300mm lens

Macro oregon grape leaves!
The sunlight shining through these instantly distracted me from my walk and I had to take these photos.
