Due to lack of rain it is still wildfire season in several eastern states. When this map opens it is centered on the #QuakerRunFire in Virginia. Pink area will always show latest perimeter data hosted on NIFC GIS server. Click pink area to see attribute data including acres burned. #VAfire #VAwx
Triangles and squares are heat detections by MODIS and VIIRS satellites. That data is *not* real time and locations are only approximate. This data updates several times per day.
Pan the map to other fires or click Menu > Search.
