The base for this robo-vacuum has been acting oddly. I keep it plugged into the lower socket. Sometimes every few weeks it'll randomly shutoff. I unplug and replug it, it powers on for a few seconds, after which it'll either stay on or it might shut off again. If I move it to the upper socket, it powers on and stays on everytime. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the base or with the socket?
Eventually after some time the problem just resolves itself on its own somehow when I'm not watching.
The outlet's switch in the breaker box isn't being flipped when this happens. #electrical #vacuums #tech

Man accidentally gains control of 7,000 #robotvacuums
Sammy Azdoufal wanted to steer his #DJI Romo with a controller. Building his app, he used an AI coding assistant to help reverse-engineer how robot communicated with DJI’s cloud. But he soon discovered that the same credentials that allowed him to see and control his own device also provided access to live camera feeds, microphone audio, maps, and status data from nearly 7,000 other #vacuums across 24 countries.

Man Accidentally Gains Control of 7,000 #Robot #Vacuums
discovered that the same credentials that allowed him to see & control his own device also provided access to live #camera feeds, #microphone audio, maps, & status data from nearly 7K other vacuums across 24 countries. The backend #security bug effectively exposed an army of internet-connected #robots that, in the wrong hands, could be turned into #surveillance tools, all without their owners ever knowing

🤖 I’ve given this a few hours of serious thought…
If I was Sammy Azdoufal… I would absolutely not report the giant security hole.
For six months, I’d just whisper 😱“pssssst… psssst…” through vacuum cleaner mics worldwide. Then, for the next six months, an occasional soft bark 🐶 or gentle meow 🐈⬛.
Nothing dramatic, just thousands of people questioning their pets, their homes… and their sanity.
For science, obviously….
