  1. Vaccines teach our immune system to recognise and fight specific germs—no infection needed. 🌱

    - They’re rigorously tested for safety.
    - Different formats exist (live‑attenuated, mRNA, protein subunit, etc.).
    - Widespread immunisation cuts disease spread, protects the vulnerable, and eases strain on health systems.

  2. I'm disappointed to learn today that my name twin Scott Miller, founder of Apogee Games, is an idiotic antivaxxer.

Please let me reassure you that despite having the same first and last name, I am very pro vaccine.

  3. #Measles killed 2.6 million people in 1980. These numbers have decreased thanks to the #vaccine. Measles are the most contagious disease that we know, and there is still no treatment. If you become infected, nature takes its course. Falling #vaccination rates will mean millions of deaths again.

Here, we should not talk about #VaccineSideEffects, but about the side effects of not vaccinating. #VaccinesWork, in particular in the case of measles. #VaccinesSaveLives

  4. "The first thing to do if someone expresses uncertainty about vaccines to you, say researchers, is not to judge or dismiss them. It’s wrong to assume that people are ignorant, irrational or have naively swallowed online misinformation. A lot of people have genuine and legitimate questions..."

I guess, the main point is that there are risks associated with vaccines, but that the diseases that they prevent are much worse. #vaccine #vaccines #vaccination #VaccineSafety #VaccineSideEffects #VaccinesWork

  5. "Modeling Reemergence of Vaccine-Eliminated Infectious Diseases Under Declining Vaccination in the US"

    jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/

"At current state-level vaccination rates, measles may become endemic again; increasing vaccine coverage would prevent this. Under a 50% decline in childhood vaccination in the US, the simulation model predicted 51.2 million #measles cases over a 25-year period, 9.9 million #rubella cases, 4.3 million #poliomyelitis cases, 197 #diphtheria cases, 10.3 million hospitalizations, and 159,200 deaths."

Note that the graphic is labeled "25% decline in childhood vaccination" not 50%. I think this is because the authors wanted an "average" of their models for the graphic. Bottom line: It's bad at 25% and can only get worse! Also note that the #measles numbers are much larger because it is so much more contagious!

People... this would be an *appalling* outcome of the current anti-vax, anti-science, anti-child confusion and policies of the current #Trump administration!

  6. Time to start my weekend... by going and getting vaxxed for Covid and the flu! (For the rona and the flu? That way they're both "the..." diseases?)

Anyway, stay safe, mask up, get vaxxed, and have a great weekend, folks! 💉😷🍹
