On September 1, 2026, #HomelandSecurity Secretary Markwayne #Mullin announced that #ICE would be at polling stations to “serve warrants or respond to specific threats."
This is wildly illegal.
18 U.S.C. § 592 — "Troops at Polls" Enacted in 1865:
"Whoever, being an officer of the Army or Navy, or other person in the civil, military, or naval service of the United States, orders, brings, keeps, or has under his authority or control any troops or armed men at any place where a general or special election is held, unless such force be necessary to repel armed enemies of the United States, shall be fined … and be disqualified from holding any office of honor, profit, or trust under the United States.
On 9/10/2026, #Denver, along with the League of United Latin American Citizens (#LULAC), #CommonCause, and #UnidosUS, filed a federal lawsuit to block armed ICE agents from polling places during the 2026 midterm elections.
