Thanks to @MishaVanMollusq I found out about a documentary on the Unarian cult, decided to give it a watch.

Though there are parts of it that seem to goof on the cult, it also seems very sympathetic towards them. There's actually a lot to pick up from this on influences and how the cult was more than just "UFO weirdness."
