  1. Here's the #Petrofuture of the north part of #Ireland, including, of course, Northern Ireland.

A map from the past transforms into a vision of the future--66m sea level rise on a vintage Esso map.

Once in a while, it makes sense to break through the boundaries of the original map, which is what I've done here.

  5. Save Lough Neagh Film Festival And Conference

Oxford Island, Saturday, May 9 at 09:00 AM GMT+1

"ANNOUNCING THE SAVE LOUGH NEAGH FILM FESTIVAL & CONFERENCE
9am Sat-Sun 9-10 May 2026, the weekend before the March for Lough Neagh

Register for a free ticket in our bio or saveloughneagh.com

The Lough, is dying before our eyes. Decades of mismanagement, political negligence, pollution and commercial extraction of its resources have left Lough Neagh blighted by a pestilence of blue-green algae, choking the life out of the Lough and putting it at risk of total ecosystem collapse.

Following the success of our exhibition ‘Natures Revolt’ which sought to blend art and traditions of resistance, the Save Lough Neagh campaign are organising this follow up event, to bring our community together for a two day festival of eco-socialism, resistance to extraction and exploitation, and artistic expression - to show collectively what Lough Neagh means to us all, and to galvanise the many thousands of people who have been impacted by this crisis. Acting together, we have the power to push for system change, secure a future for Lough Neagh, and demand accountability from those who have plundered it and profiteered from its destruction.

So come down to the festival for some of our film screenings, radical talks and panel discussions, or to hear some great music from local campaigners who have been staunch planet defenders for many years.

    No to pollution
    No to profiteering
    No to political negligence

  7. Hype for the Future 78H: West Virginia 🇺🇸 and Northern Ireland 🇬🇧 Compared

Introduction Though located in very different parts of the globe, the State of West Virginia in the United States and the constituent country of Northern Ireland in the United Kingdom can appear to have more than just surface-level similarities. While the Scots-Irish settlement was largely associated with the Shenandoah Valley in the modern Commonwealth of Virginia, a number of such frontier settlers would eventually play roles in the development of the modern State of West […]

  9. The island of #Ireland has traditionally been associated with a provincial system, with #Ulster in the north, #Connacht or #Connaught in the west, #Munster in the south, and #Leinster in the east. All of Northern Ireland was Ulster, but not all of Ulster would evolve into Northern Ireland. However, further south within Irish territory, Dublin, the Irish national capital, was once included within the Province of Leinster.

  10. Hype for the Future 71B: Irish Political Geography

Overview Traditionally, Ireland has been identified as containing four (4) provinces: Ulster, Connacht (formerly known as Connaught), Munster, and Leinster. Today, the island of Ireland is split between the Republic of Ireland and the constituent country of Northern Ireland within the United Kingdom. The counties within the United Kingdom are the Counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry, and Tyrone. Traditional Provinces Within the island of Ireland, the four traditional Irish […]

  11. Hype for the Future 50L: The Government of Northern Ireland

The Partition of Ireland had been established circa 1921 and effective 1922, in which six (6) of the traditional counties—Armagh, Antrim, Down, Tyrone, Londonderry, and Fermanagh—have remained with the United Kingdom though the remainder of the island had effectively returned to pre-1820 sovereign status, has created a tremendous impact and ripple effect within the situation in Northern Ireland in particular. While most of Ireland is associated with Dublin, Northern Ireland is associated […]

  12. Hype for the Future 50K: Ulster and Northern Ireland Compared

Technically, Ulster could include nine associated Irish counties, though only six of the counties are in Northern Ireland. Donegal is perhaps the most important distinction between Ulster and Northern Ireland, as County Donegal is located at not just the northernmost part of the Republic of Ireland, but also at the northernmost point of the entire island of Ireland. While most of the Ulster Scots were, in fact, settling Northern Ireland, counties associated with the Republic of Ireland […]
