Iceland’s Althing is the world’s oldest Parliament still operating.
The Althing (est. 930) is the world’s oldest legislature.
However, the Isle of Man’s Tynwald (est. 979) is the world’s oldest continuous legislature as Althing was disbanded between 1800 and 1845.

The Department of Infrastructure is engaging on a project to implement 20mph speed limits in residential areas across the #IsleofMan, following a #Tynwald commitment in 2023. The initiative aims to improve quality of life and create safer, more inclusive streets. No new traffic calming measures will be introduced; instead, the focus will be on new signage, raising awareness, and encouraging behaviour change. Schools will see updated signs and flashing lights to remind drivers to take extra care. Public responses are due by Friday 21 March.
