  1. Glasgow Solo Developer Psyber Games Studios Announces Fast-Paced Hybrid-Casual Mobile Title ‘Twitch Out’

Glasgow-based solo developer Psyber Games Studios has announced its upcoming mobile title, Twitch Out.

Currently in closed testing on Google Play, the hybrid-casual reaction game challenges players to test the absolute limits of human reflexes through minimalist, precision-based mechanics.

    Pushing the Twitch Point

The core loop of Twitch Out is built around high-stakes simplicity: players must tap a vanishing light before it disappears from the screen. With every successful tap, the light vanishes faster until players reach the ‘Twitch Point’ – the boundary of human reaction speed.

To complement the immediate, accessible one-tap loop, the game incorporates competitive progression systems to drive replayability:

    • Single and Double Light Modes: Featuring classic reflex training alongside a dual-light challenge.
    • Customisation Options: 13 unlockable colours to customise lights, earned through gameplay coins or optional in-app purchases.
    • Competitive Leaderboards: Integrated live rankings allowing players to challenge for top positions.
    • Prestige Hierarchy: Dedicated Twitch King and Twitch Demon skill titles, accompanied by shield and challenge mechanics to defend or claim the top rank.

    Solo Development and Mobile Architecture

Built by solo developer James O’Callaghan, a games dev graduate with a prior release on Google Play, Twitch Out represents months of focused production within Glasgow’s grassroots indie ecosystem.

Speaking on the design philosophy behind the title, developer James told Scottish Games Network:

Twitch Out is about the moment before the moment. It’s a game about focus, composure, and the edge of human reaction time. I wanted to create something that anyone can pick up, but that demands real skill to master.

Technically, the project is built in Unity, integrating Firebase for real-time leaderboards, Unity IAP for transactions, and LevelPlay for ad mediation to support a sustainable free-to-play model powered by optional rewarded ads.

    Release & Testing

Twitch Out is scheduled for a full public rollout on mobile later this year following the completion of its current closed testing phase on Google Play.
